Actually, the head of the Hawaii Department of Health confirmed on October 31 that Barack Obama was born in Honolulu, saying that she has "personally seen and verified that the Hawaii State Department of Health has Sen. Obama's original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures."
It basically means it's lame. The tag became popular a few months ago when there was a humorous Slashdot story about some guy who changed his password at the Lloyd bank website to "lloydispants" and one of the site admins changed it to "noitsnot".
When people realize they can surf the net (already there) and make "PowerPoints" and "Word Documents" and "Excel Spreadsheet", it will increase the options for discovering that one CAN get along quite nicely without Microsoft.
OpenOffice.org is great, and like many people I get along just fine without MS Office. However, there are a lot of people who need to use VBA in Excel. Unless Microsoft decides to cooperate or somebody hacks VBA to work with OO.o, those people aren't going to convert. Of course, VBA has security issues, so maybe it should be added to OO.o as an opt-in plugin or something.
How do you know you haven't gotten a virus if you don't have antivirus software? If you've used Windows for decades, I can pretty much guarantee you've gotten one at some point. I can't recall getting one myself in probably three or four years, but to say I've never gotten one would be an overly pretentious lie.
Agreed. Mega Bloks don't even stick to themselves, let alone Legos. Well, every once in a while it'll work, but not often enough that you can build something by mixing sets.
I wonder if this ruling extends to that abomination known as Bionicle....
Parent was modded funny, but that site actually allows you to share your ideas with the President-Elect. Maybe if enough of us send him that article, he'll read it.

Good job, people. You modded me redundant. You trying to tell me you didn't mis-read the name at first glance as well? I guess some people can't take a joke. But then, this is Slashdot, where anything with "pwnies" or "goatse" is automatically hilarious.
I wish I had a website where I could make my subscribers read my spam emails. I've got plenty of "disagree mail" from Nigerian kings and Viagra sellers. Honestly, I like the idea of the Disagree Mail series, but lately he's resorted to posting what is obviously spam.
I wholly agree with you. I don't understand how distributing to MediaSentry can be prosecuted, especially since in some states MediaSentry may be operating illegally. The way I see it:
Situation 1: MediaSentry is working for the RIAA illegally. Therefore, they should not be suing.
Situation 2: MediaSentry is working for the RIAA legally, thereby representing the copyright holders and making the file transfer legal. Therefore, they should not be suing.
Either they're operating illegally or they're downloading their own music. It doesn't make any sense.
summary: "I can't believe that "I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that" didn't make the list."
TFA: "I chose to limit myself to one fictional error message in this list, but I could go on: If I ever produce a sequel to this story, I guarantee you that 'I'm sorry, Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that' will be on it."
So the only question is who will pay. Either the Fossett estate (who is likely responsible for the crash, and who also asked for the search), or the homeless orphans with leukemia taxpayers of Nevada. So those are the only two types of people in all of Nevada? No gamblers? No hookers? No washed-up lounge singers? Huh. Things sure have changed since I was there last.
And yes, I hate orphans. What did Bach, Poe, or Moses ever do for me?
This is just plain awful. I'm sure she's going through enough without this added on top of everything. Shouldn't be charging anybody, especially the widow.
This actually was my exact dilemma three years ago when I was trying to figure out where I wanted to go. I opted for the tech school, and I've never looked back. It was probably the best decision of my life. Now, that doesn't necessarily mean anything to you, of course. I recommend talking to teachers, administration, and graduates from both school's CS departments. Find which curriculum best suits YOU, since you're the one who will be paying for it. If you're concerned about your career, go to a job fair and ask the potential employers themselves!

Wait, his car runs on plutonium? Will he buy me one, too?

I know. I was just wondering if this ruling also includes Bionicle, because they're not really like Legos even though Lego makes them.

In this day and age, where is a free forum where everyone can post, with minimal moderation to control spamming?
I believe you're looking for Slashdot. Allow me to point the way.

Simson Garfinkel? You mean that singing duo?

Really? Windows makes me restart every time I update. This is one of the many reasons I prefer to stay in Ubuntu.
File sharers should start tagging their music "for MediaSentry use only." ;-)

Oh, and by the way, this is a classic.
It shouldn't be "White House Wins" -- it should be "Citizens Lose".
"...the actual sensitivity and response of the mouse easily outclasses our prior mousing experiences."
Well, that's a phrase you don't hear every day.
Ye find yeself in yon dungeon. Ye see a SCROLLBAR. Behind ye scrollbar is a FLASK. Obvious exits are NORTH, SOUTH, and COWBOYNEAL.
Yeah, right after I posted I thought "oh wait, this guy was rich, wasn't he?" Good old flame-y headlines.
This is just plain awful. I'm sure she's going through enough without this added on top of everything. Shouldn't be charging anybody, especially the widow.
No, you're not the only one. Honestly, the first thing I thought when I saw the headline was "has anyone told Randall?"
The numbers in the summary don't match up with the numbers on Netflix's leaderboard:
BellKor: 9.08%
Gravity/Dinosaurs: 8.82%
BigChaos: 8.80%
