Step 1. Learn how to DBA

It is rather apparent from your summary that you have not yet mastered any of the above three steps. At this point, "I" would recommend to your customer that they seek services from another firm.

You mean people actually install service packs? I haven't done that since... well.. since before windows 2000. I guess not everyone can just back up their files, slipstream the latest service pack and do a clean install. OK, just kidding thats not practical at all, but that's a shame, cause everyone would benefit from a clean install of XPSP3.

My XP vm has never been smoother.

The only way to semi-accurately calculate their losses is to look at their declining profits year to year, which I would consider a real value partially accountable to piracy. But... Their profits have been rising... Year over year, their blockbusters are increasingly more profitable. And its the blockbusters that get pirated the most. So by your logic (and most sane peoples logic), piracy is actually helping their sales. What's killing their profits is the movies they produce that aren't any good.

No, what kills an MMO is when its market collapses, and the markets collapse when they can no longer be controlled at the server by changing a few variables. Now if you had a row of identical doors and swung an axe at each one with the same force etc you would expect the same result on each door. Completely sane people do that type of destructive testing ALL THE TIME to determine material strengths. Not only do they expect different results each time, but the results can often vary so widely that the material has to actually be rejected as too unstable to be tested. When the material is stable enough to be tested, HUNDREDS of destructive samples are made, and the average calculated. Then tolerances are set higher, and the tests are run AGAIN. With COMPLETELY SANE PEOPLE running the tests. GETTING DIFFERENT RESULTS!

Most people wiht any sense of freedom at all constantly rebel against it, and the element of submersion fails, suspension of disbelief never sets in, and noone is entertained.
