  1. This is Perfect! on PRO-IP Act Passes Judiciary Committee · · Score: 1

Now all we have to do is look at who sponsored this bill and we can find out who is taking bribes seeing as this has absolutely nothing to do with America but only lining the pockets of the great John Conyers!

  2. Re:And your point is...? on Is Ubuntu Selling Out or Growing Up? · · Score: 1

The great thing about open source software is that it can thrive in a socialist/capatilist type system. The fact is that real life for profit companies spend time and money working on open source projects that are owned and maintained by a socialist type community with similiar ideals. However, as a lot of /. readers should know, open source can also be used in the capitalist for profit world. Service as a product certainly furthers this as we have started seeing models shift from "paying for a product and the person to use it" to "pay for the person to use said product and spend money on development costs that in turn go to the project not the company". Compare FOSS to whatever system you want, the fact is that it has proven that it can not only survive but also thrive in both.

  6. Why Not Offer a Premium Type Membership on Should Wikipedia Sell Advertising? · · Score: 1

Yes, I do donate to Wikipedia, and I do believe that Wikimedia should attempt to run as much content without ads as possible. However, I also understand that ruynning Wikipedia is quite expensive and the pickings on donations are slim. So why not display ads to normal users, offer a premium advertising free membership for a small annual "donation", and I think that makes a a pretty good compromise. Universities and other academic institutions and non-profits should all be given said premium memberships in addition.

All domain registrar's are sketchy in today's world based on my experiences. That said, GoDaddy is a somewhat decent registrar ... relatively. And as far as the eNom boycott, i'll continue to never use their services.
