The government is weak and/or corrupt and the oil companies just run as companies do -- maximize profit

It seems to me the way to maximize profit is to minimize losses due to spills. It would be in their best interests to prevent spills. One of the comments in the article pointed out a very interesting point. The English is horrible, which leads me to assume they are not a native speaker.

Is it actual worth pointing out the reality that in Nigerian illegal tapping into oil pipe lines , is a major issue that leads to leaks and sometime major explosion as the very photo used in this article shows. In addition pumping stations are attack which also leads to leaks. In short he claims to care about the leaks but fails to address how they are actual caused , while his total ignorance of the massive corruption in Nigerian , that scales into tens of billions and lies behind most of the problem seen. Merely means that this article is just about attacking the oil companies and doing nothing about the problem, for let?s be clear they only make money for oil they sell , they make nothing for that which is lost. Therefore, if they are really the evil corporations some would like to believe than will do what makes money.

If they really are evil, greedy capitalists wouldn't it make more sense to, you know, sell it instead? I doubt that this was an instance of cutting corners. Id wager it has a higher chance of being corporate sabotage from a third party that went much father than they expected.

I personally hate talking on the phone and avoid chatting in public as much as possible anyway.

The guys that wrote them were themselves very religious and as I pointed out, wanted to restrict *federal* government from establishing a religion. They never intended for any religion to be supported or oppressed by the federal government. It was to be left to the individual states, counties, and cities. Separation of Church and State implies that on all levels there is to be no mention of religion in government, and no mention of government in religion. That is not what the bill of rights says.

  12. Re:FFS on Seniors Told They Can't Pray Before Meals · · Score: 1

What about prohibiting the exercise thereof? The original intent behind the "no law respecting an establishment of religion" was to prevent the federal government from founding its own church (individual states already had theirs). Religion and government were not intended to be split as decisively as they are now. There were to be merely let loose to survive on their own as the people willed.
Its interesting that you state "entirely inappropriate for state organizations to forbid" when that is all they really do anymore. Here we have a group that has been doing voluntary prayers for a while. Now they are being forbidden because they might offend the minority. What about the minority offending them? The law has been interpreted to mean that there can be no semblance of a prayer on government property, even outlawing voluntary prayer meetings at the flagpole on schools. If the majority of the people in a group want to pray a particular way at any given time at any given place, its up to the minority to either leave or stay silent. That's democracy and that is what the Constitution intended.

Separation of church and state does not exist in the Constitution. It is a catchphrase created to push an agenda rather than to describe what is actually written.

Actually the principle was intended to prevent the nation as a whole from favoring one state over another. Individual states had their own state religion.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof

Note that has no mention of state legislatures, and that the current modus operandi tends to squelch any religious display at all in the name of an unconsitutional "separation".

    Pretexting
Pretexting is the act of creating and using an invented scenario (the pretext) to engage a targeted victim in a manner that increases the chance the victim will divulge information or perform actions that would be unlikely in ordinary circumstances. It is more than a simple lie, as it most often involves some prior research or setup and the use of a priori information for impersonation (e.g., date of birth, Social Security Number, last bill amount) to establish legitimacy in the mind of the target.[3]
This technique can be used to trick a business into disclosing customer information as well as by private investigators to obtain telephone records, utility records, banking records and other information directly from junior company service representatives. The information can then be used to establish even greater legitimacy under tougher questioning with a manager, e.g., to make account changes, get specific balances, etc. Pretexting has even been an observed law enforcement technique, under the auspices of which, a law officer may leverage the threat an alleged infraction to detain a suspect for questioning and close inspection of vehicle or premises.
Pretexting can also be used to impersonate co-workers, police, bank, tax authorities, or insurance investigators — or any other individual who could have perceived authority or right-to-know in the mind of the targeted victim. The pretexter must simply prepare answers to questions that might be asked by the victim. In some cases all that is needed is a voice that sounds authoritative, an earnest tone, and an ability to think on one's feet.
