Reading comprehension FTW. There is no reason that your license (ie those for legal non-citizens) cannot be marked as such. In the north by Canada there is the option to get an Enhanced Drivers License that proves citizenship and is valid for crossing the border. Similar programs would not be that hard.

Not speaking English is a large tip off that they aren't a citizen. There just aren't that many legit non-english speaking immigrants. Theoretically a drivers license *could* be a simple, common means of identification but that will require cracking down on only giving drivers licenses to legals.

Custody for Rachner lasted two hours, not days, but a charge was leveled against him in Seattle Municipal Court for obstructing a public officer. Controversial laws known as obstruction, "stop and frisk" and "stop and identify" statutes have been abused in other cities like New York, studies and news stories show. An obstruction case cited in a 2008 Seattle Post-Intelligencer investigation ended with a federal jury hitting Seattle police with a six-figure penalty.

Will people please stop comparing the USA to Europe? There are many reasons that we are not/should not/and don't want to be like them.
On the currency side, think about the difference in the volume of bills between the US dollar and the EU. We have a lot more bills and we have a lot more ATMs/vending machines. It isn't feasible to change that quickly. Furthermore, they have not switched entirely in the space of a few months. Its taken years to phase over to the Euro (which many over there don't want) and it still isn't universally accepted (at least it wasn't last time I visited. I would be very surprised if that had changed).

I used to work in a print shop with some really nice machines. None of them had a function to reprint a previously printed document from the main display. The one I used the most had a 120gb drive in it that I could access, but I couldn't print from there either. I could view the queue of what had been previously printed by document type/name, but I couldn't actually print or view it. It also had a display of how full it was, and the only time I ever saw it fill up was when I was printing a large raw file (usually by accident :| ) Maybe some of the higher ups with a different log-in could have recovered documents, but not as far as I know. I was the one that was usually tinkering with the machines and figuring out new functions nobody else used/knew. I never would have thought that it kept a copy after finishing. I figured it would be recoverable in some form due to weak deletion/erasing, but not archived in full.
