Slashdot loads at the exact same speed, In fact downloads go about the same speed, and VoIP works better over the T1 compared to comcast (comcast has nasty jitter and latency)

When my sale price runs out, i'm getting the low end DSL for $21.95 a month.. that's 2.4meg down and 512K up for me.... that's even good enough for Netflix HD streaming to an Xbox360.

It's not hard to make a regular TV tube a vector one anyways, it's just the phosphor mask that makes it a PITA to get crisp lines. I screwed with that back in college, I had a couple of sweep generators powering the X and Y fields on a color TV tube making some really cool designs before I fired some of the TV electronics.
Oh and scanning OUTSIDE the mask was bad, with enough voltage you can bend the beam too far. What I loved was finding cracked flybacks that had a visible blue aura around them..... those rocked!
I spent $13.25US on a robot to feed my fish when I was gone AND when I was home. Slit in the fish food can, Hobby servo, Pic and some junk from the trash.
It spins twice a day and with the huge can of food on the thing, I'll refill the food in about a year. Fishies are happy, Nest up, automatic water changes! I already have a automatic water make up with a float valve from a toilet.... and I dont need to clean the glass, I found that snails are far easier to get than making little robots to clean the glass....
It cant TOUCH FCP suite. Motion on it's own utterly destroys after effects. I can create a motion project in 1/10th the time as a After Effects pro can. and in this business faster = more profit.
On top of that Soundtrack pro gives me some capabilities with FCP that I cant get with the adobe suite. I've been there, Adobe cant touch FCP, it's why NO tv show is edited with adobe and most are edited with FCP. (some are still on Avid)

I've tried EVERYTHING under windows, and none of it can hold a candle to the workflow and speed of quality production as the FCP suite. Even AVID. I'd utterly kill for something that was 1/2 as effective as FCP for linux. but sadly nothing exists except toys that crash all the time or are for making really low quality home movies.
I'm not a fanboi, I am cringing hard at the though of having to spend $3500.00 on a new PC to be able to buy the current update to FCP. My Quad core G5 still works great, but I see the need to upgrade in the next year in order to maintain a speedy render time and workflow. and I cant build a hackintosh that will run stable as a rock to save my life....

Incorrect. Most geodesic domes survive direct interaction with tornadoes. There is a cement dome home in the tornado belt that survived a F-5 tornado. with having all the exterior paint stripped off, but the building was left intact and undamaged.

You can do the same with acrylic rods. We did that for a insulated ceiling building in northern Michigan. we had the top of the rod cut at an angle and had that angle set to the south east as lighting was more important to be bright in the morning. 3 foot long 4" diameter clear rod cost less than $40.00 each and the cutting and polishing was done on site with a saw and acetone. inside was crudely faceted to spread the light around, shaft was painted with white wall paint.. plus you dont get a heat loss out of them unlike the reflective tubes with single layer plastic caps at each end that cost far more and are far harder to install.
If you are worrying about the tiny bit of VOC's from your houses wiring, then I better not tell you about what your carpet and the wood in your house is outgassing. or the paint on the walls (yes even the "enviro-junk" they sell to try and placate people like you).
The wiring puts out far FAR less than many other sources in a home even a LEEDS certified green home. Natural woods gas out nasties if you want to go looking for nasties.
Oh and dont get me started about the impurity of the gypsum in your wall board.....
Also the same thing can be done with a single skylight in each room. Far more effective and gives you a beautiful view of the sky in every room. NOTE: dont put skylights directly above showers... A lot of people do this, ask hot air balloonists how many naked people they see through them.
P.S. if you have opening skylights you can significantly reduce your cooling bills as well. If you try and tell me about the "energy savings of the tube ones versus the real skylight. I laugh. a leaky reflective tube and diffuser loses more heat than a decent triple pane skylight. if you live in snow land, cover the skylight with the dome covers and add another airgap and save on snow load damage.
A real step foreward would be a fiberoptic setup that has a sun tracking fresnel. zero heat loss, and almost zero heat gain. all with easy to retrofit, and tiny point sources to allow you to do something creative with the lighting.

I should be able to upgrade a G1 to the latest andriod easily, you cant. so a bunch of apps wont run on it. Yet short of the special case 3Gs extra hardware specific apps. a 1st gen iphone can run the same apps the 4th gen iphone can.
