My DVR ignores "bit flags" but then I use Mythtv. My DVD recorder ignores all bit flags as well.
my DVD recorder is far easier to use than ANY VCR I have ever owned.
Have you even tried to look at alternatives?
here's a bit more fun. My DVD recorder will record things your VCR cant. Macrovision protection that thwarts all VCR's my LITE-ON recorder will record macrovision protected items without a problem. no flashing of the screen like you see on "protected" tapes.
Simplicity. Insert Tuesday DISC select the show and press play. VCR= insert tuesday tape, fast foreward past all my wifes stuff, press play.
Sounds like the DVD recorder is far far simpler than your VHS recorder.
you think that sucks... comcast boxes around here revert to the channel 1 for on demand every 8 hours the box is not touched... it's designed to screw with people that have recorders.
Most people can make it to work and back on a bicycle. It's just that many are too lazy to do that or are afraid of discomfort and use it as an excuse to not do it. Yes you CAN bike 15-17 miles to work easily daily. no it's not gonna take 10 minutes, you have to get off your ass and get up earlier. and yes you CAN ride a bike in the rain and in snow.
I see people do it every day, and I live where we get 4-8 feet of snow a year.
P.S. if you look hard enough, you can find a free bike.
Glenn Beck is entertainment. he is NOT news or intelligent commentary.
Glenn Beck is Fox's answer to the Colbert report.
The problem is there is a HUGE number of people that watch Glenn Beck that also think that all the news on TheOnion.com is also real. They cant understand the difference between satire and joking and reality.
Glenn Beck is entertainment, this is directly stated and admitted to by Fox new channel. They cant help it that there is a large number of people that dont have the IQ to understand that.
Or my $29.00 walmart "falls creek" specials that I have worn for 2 years now and only will be replacing them because I literally wore the soles off the shoes. The tops are still in great shape, and the arch and inside are still in great shape.
Absolutely none. There are no video editing apps for Linux that are anything but toys or core dump makers.
You CAN do most photo shops stuff in Gimp if you are not whiney and afraid of learning... print media though no CMYK but that is only a tiny segment of the graphics market anymore.
But for video editing, composting and CG there is absolutely nothing that is use-able for pro or even semi-pro use.
Hell even for idiot level video podcast making adobe owns the market.... Visual Communicator has no match.
Although I am still suspicious of all reports of this. Turning off the ignition does not make the car stop, putting it in neutral does not make the car stop.. It's a major failure on Toyota's part if the two safety fail-safes in the car do not work.
The off duty cop certainly would have tried both of those, the panicky soccer-mom, I can see her not doing it.
I really would like to see someone reproduce this on a car jig. where the wheels are on a 4 wheel dyno and they can do direct testing safely while the car thinks it's going 120mph and trying to kill the occupants.
harder to pirate? So it's impossible to put a polarized filter on the lens?
I can pirate it in 3d easily, 2 video cameras, 2 polarizers... all done... and contrary to what most believe, pirated versions are done from the projection booth or in a private theater and not some guy in a trenchcoat with a camera hat.
You have to pay more because everyone else around you are afraid to ask the same questions and don't walk away when exposed to price gouging.
Honestly, most Americans are really spineless now. and it started 2 decades ago. I still get looks of astonishment from people when I haggle price. I refuse to buy a car or any big ticket item at the posted price. Most people think that you either get arrested for doing it, or they are afraid to.
Heck I haggle on small ticket items. When I buy wine, if I find a good one I'll ask for a discount if I buy 3 or more bottles.
I refused to see avatar until it was almost at the end of it's run. I got a better experience as I watched it in a mostly empty theater on a $8.00 a ticket matinee.. I though it was neat, but not impressed enough to go and see another one or pay more than regular price.
But then I'm evil... I smuggle in a $1.25 candybar in my pocket instead of buying the $30.00 1 pound chocobar.. at the concession stand.
That's why I do not blur those numbers but replace them with fake numbers. the idiots making the decision as to the legitimacy of a document never actually try to verify it so they want to see something that LOOKS legitimate. Honestly anyone with an IQ over 90 can generate a legitimate looking document in 30 minutes on a computer. yet banks and phone companies hire people with an IQ under 60 to verify the legitimacy of documents.
Or compared to the number of Ford F150 pickup truck fires that actually caused deaths and damage. Oh wait, let's ignore that because a pickup truck is AMERICAN!
It's the victims fault for not protecting their info. It's also the victims fault for not checking their credit report every 60 seconds.
finally it's the victims fault for electing the scumbags they have in government that hates consumers and loves banks.
Honestly, the US government fully supports credit fraud, otherwise they would have put in rules for banks that made it the banks responsibility and liability at all times. It needs to become expensive for banks to ignore the red flags. I support a $50,000.00 tax free fine directly payable to the victim for every red flag a bank ignored.
MOST of the apps for the iPhone are utter crap. absolute and utter crap. in fact it's hard to wade through all the crap because it seems that almost everything is 3 stars and very few get rated up and near none get rated down.
and you can charge it instantly with magnetic induction on the touchstone.
so I set it on the "touchstone" and it goes from 3% battery to 100% battery INSTANTLY? I highly doubt that.
P.S. my iphone charges instantly, I simply set it on the dock and it charges. same as my Nokia N900 did when I plugged it in. and My Motorola Droid did...
your blessed Palm phone is not special because it uses old induction charging tech from 1959. (electric razors and toothbrushes have used this forever it's not new, just a gimmick.)
And yes battery life has everything to do with the topic. I really miss my once a week charge time with my Nokia N62... Todays smartphones, all of them are complete pieces of crap when it comes to the phone part. Yes even my iPhone.
If a phone can not go 5 days without being charged, then the phone is an EPIC FAIL.
You know, that's great ideals. Problem is I tried that. I avoided the iPhone for years, Nokia is crap, I wasted a lot of cash on that phone. Motorola Droid.... crap, did not integrate with exchange well, and no work apps that worked for it. My other choice was a Windows Mobile phone. I had 4 of them, I got tired of having to reboot the damn phone daily. it silently stops ringing or responding to calls.
I tried an iphone for 30 days, dammit this thing just works for the apps I needed for work, and exchange push. It is the ONLY phone I was ablet oget that worked reliably, had the app support for the trouble ticket system at work, email and exchange integration... I hate that.
If I could find a smart phone OS that was not locked that worked with everything at work... I'd buy it. Guess what, I tried to buy them, I have a drawer full of the current phones and past phones from the past 2 years. they all failed.
If you dont need your phone to make you money, that's great. You can put up with substandard stability (windows Mobile/Nokia S60), or will not run into the limitations that were show stoppers for me.
And those of us with a Tech IQ over 80 will simply jailbreak the phone and install iADblocker and enjoy zero ad's because apple just made a unified simple way for us to block all ad's.
Dude, Every country you mentioned is smaller than the state I live in here in the USA. If my state had the population and TAX base those countries had we would be wired to the hilt as well.
Plus remember, you had your government doing most of the infrastructure build out. The government here could care less and "left it to the private sector" who summarily screwed the pooch so hard that we are worse than 3rd world countries now.
American Broadband is a utter joke and a disgrace. Our data infrastructure is stapled on top of a 100 year old phone system that has been rotting for 40 years. Cable companies half ass it as much as possible because top profits are far more important than reliability and NO COMPANY in the usa looks at 5-20 years down the road, all they care about is next quarter profits.
It's how good your lawyer can bullshit the judge over the other lawyer. Paying more than the other guy in court let's you hire the best bullshitter and let you win.
This is the reality of the courts. The judges do not give a flying fart about justice, honesty, or fairness. They care about who made the most convincing argument. Truth has NO PLACE in a courtroom.
My 2000 Town and country minivan get's insane gas mileage...
Distance from sun to earth : 93 million miles Circumference : 93 million * 2 * pi = 584.3 million miles Divided by 365 1/4 days in a year, that gives about 1.6 million miles
Figures are approximate. The path is elliptical instead of circular, so planets do not move at a constant speed.
Relative to the Sun, the Earth travels at 30 kilometers per second. There are 60*60*24=86400 seconds in one day so: 2,592,000 kilometers per day.
I am getting OVER 2,592,000 Kilometers per gallon daily! I actually end up getting over 6,000,000 Kilometers per tank of gas!
What? I'm just using verizons and comcasts math and marketing truths....

Update your knowlege: those in power make the laws. If I buy enough army to take over, all the laws suddenly change to my laws.
so theyare not being lawless, they are being VERY law abiding... just abiding by their laws that they make up at whim..
Or my $29.00 walmart "falls creek" specials that I have worn for 2 years now and only will be replacing them because I literally wore the soles off the shoes. The tops are still in great shape, and the arch and inside are still in great shape.

I can do it, both eyes opes, one open and even with both eyes closed.
I have the uncanny ability to know spatially where my arms and hands are when I cant see them.

Monster? those are crap.
I use Denon Directional ethernet cables...
http://www.usa.denon.com/productdetails/3429.asp
Who would use that Monster cable crap, they dont cost 1/2 of what the Denon ones do.
My bits are happier, and they taste better too.

Yup. Everyone that works at a 5/3rd bank are raging assholes. They actually seek out asshole attitudes...
excerpt from an interview....
Interviewer: What do you do if a customer wants you to do something like a withdraw or cashing a check?
Intervieweee: I check their bank balance, if it's above 6 figures then I help them, if it's not then I tell them to go fuck themselves.
Interviewer : You're hired!

Dude I dont call pop-up ad's a desierable feature.... you windows fanbois are incredibly strange.
It will be the first reason I jailbreak my phone.
because someone will make a iAD's blocker. and I'll jump on that like flies to a turd...
