One place I worked at we had a horribly out of date NW server on the network that nobody knew where it was... I searched for weeks and could not find it. Finally years later it was found inside a wall because of previous construction it was placed out of the way and covered with a plastic tarp.
So it was running all those years WITH NO AIRFLOW and no reboots. A testament to old SCSI hard drives.
Very cool that you can now patch and reload the core without a reboot, I just wonder how they handle when data structures change dramatically between major versions, will they replace the running data with predefined?
Get management to pony up for real AV gear. The problem is your gear is garbage and not designed for the use. There is no magical CHEAP thing you can buy.
Now get a biamp or BSS DSP and 4 boundary mics hanging from the ceiling on some 18" diameter glass plates... I can make a meeting room cover all voices in there perfectly for video and teleconference.

I have listened to $300 earbuds and they suck compared to even a $40.00 set of real cans, It's why the junky "beats" headphones became popular, a lot of people tried them and said "wow these are amazing" compared to earbuds.
One advantage of earbuds is that they do not do any real noise isolation so you can hear when a bus is about to squish you. Good headphones will keep the sound of that bus out of your ears even after it hits you...
