What is Ubuntu market share? Is it enough that Verizon needs to pay attention to it? Could you assume that most people using Ubuntu are computer savvy and can proceed to connect without the disk.
They force the companies that want to do business in their state to pay for it. If those companies put some of the cost back on to you, that is between you can the company.
To the best of my knowledge, California has electricity problems.
While you can use electricity to power TVs, and the such. But if you Don't have enough power for everyone to use everythign that they want, then you need to regulate peoples power useage.
Sure, you could follow Capitolism and raise the rates for power really high. That was those that can afford it could run thier TVs, Computers, and what ever other toys they want. But then your left with people that cnnot afford to run it for essentials (like a fridge & washer/Dryer).
However, that concept does not work for the majorty of the population as well as it works for the well off. It's a little more important to make sure everyone gets some power then the weathly getting all of th power they want.
However, I could be all worng and Cali could have fixed and power problems I am remembering. But i doubt it.
Doesn't California have power problems? If so, then if they can cut the power useage from everyone, even a little bit, then it helps resolve soem of their pwoer problems.
Sometimes things are done for a bigger picture then saving you a little $
Sounds like a smart business plan. Charge more for the things people really want and charge less for the stuff people only slightly want for more profit on both the things people really want and slightly want.
How is selling different songs at different prices price discrimination? Go to a record store, and different CD's sell for different prices all of the time. That no hit wonder? $7.99. That chart topper? $14.99
The point I was making was that renting a movie does not replace ownership of the movie.
So to go with the mandatory car reference, renting a Ferrari to drive around the track for the weekend does not replace owning one. Sure it gives you a taste, but that is all.
If you have the desire to own a movie, then a rental services (like Netflix), is not going to be a valid replacement.
Maybe, But I still don't think it's going to solve my desire to watch the next episode when I just finished disk 4 of 5 on Friday night and I know I wont get another disk until Tuesday.
You have to balance the companies desire to keep its trade secrets.
Or has a enjoys a good laugh.
That seems perfectly fair to me.
Obviously your not a patriot, so you must be a pinhead.

Why though? There are much better solutions to store the data then an SD card.
Transfer the files to your computer then back them up however you wish. Why would you use an SD card for storage?
WoW accounts? That's why you'd pick up a couple cheap eMachines to run those bots behind you.
