The problem's I've noticed with Barracuda's is they seem to like to accept then bounce emails. I've had to put special checks in my email filter to block them and a lot of places I know that have them end up on RBLs that watch for backscatter.
Salt Lake City - Utah Supreme Court justices acknowledged Tuesday that they were struggling to wrap their minds around the concept that a 13-year-old girl could be both an offender and a victim for the same act - in this case, having consensual sex with her 12-year-old boyfriend.
The break even point will be many years off after they finally do make a working fusion system if you only count the revenue generated by the fusion system itself. However an undertaking of a system like this has funded many other new devlopments. Laser Quality Glass grown in months instead of years, new laser technology, and who knows what else might be coming out of this. Then add on the military benefit or threat (depending on your point of view), and really break even point is a lot closer then one might think.
I don't mind the idea of the full motion ads so much as the sudden hit of the sound.
I personally keep my speakers turned off, but not everyone does that. When they hit a site now that has embedded sounds, it's very intrusive to those around them.
Unfortunatly when working in fields where things are often done by "lower level" employees it's becoming a necessary evil, especially in some types of manufacturing areas. All too often family groups work in these low paying jobs, and using conventional swipe/punch/time cards, one member of the family group would "clock" in for 3 or 4 others. One of the places I know of, had a family of 6 and each one would work one day a week, punching in and out the other 5.
the parents/guardians would still be liable for her actions, and any settlements against her. In the US parents are responsible for the misbehavior of their children.
(d) "Direct consent" means that the recipient has expressly consented to receive e-mail advertisements from the advertiser, either in response to a clear and conspicuous request for the consent or at the recipient's own initiative.
what's to stop a spam advertiser from spending a spam formatted to say:
We are asking for your concent to send you ads such as this:
Attacks like CodeRed, NIMDA, Slammer are the problem, and these days it's the cost of doing business on the net.
Unless your agreement, contract, or whatever is in place with your customers have a provision for such bandwith useage that is generated because of worms and the like, it's the ISP should not be responsible. Afterall, the ISP's job is connect the their customer to the internet, not regulate what happens on the internet.
If a company is seeing IT as a waste, then they did not get the ROI they thought was promised. The companies which implemented less elaborate systems, didn't try to transform theselves from brick and morter companies into super e-businesses, and invested in systems that would actually make their lives better instead of systems that sounded really good at the time still see the value in IT. For example, instead of jumping on the E-business bandwaggon where customers were removed from the sales force, we decided to better arm the sales force with things like Lotus Domino and a quote system. The customers loved it, and sales boomed, the sales reps don't miss a beat and make the sale.
In most places, IT is still a cost center, not a profit center, that is not going to change any time soon. What IT has to do is show it can help make people more effective and as result show it can help lower the cost.
First it was the station Logo on the bottom of the screen, but I just noticed since this ran that even Sci-Fi, Animal Planet, and other stations are using this method to push other shows. I didn't even notice they were there!
I've already started ignoring them without even knowing it!
"B. Lifetime Service. Subject to the terms of this Agreement, once you have paid the Service Activation Fee for your ReplayTV 4500 you will not incur any additional charges to receive the basic ReplayTV Service during the lifetime of that product. The ReplayTV Service will be provided only to that particular ReplayTV 4500 unit for which you paid the subscription fee and cannot be transferred to any other units you may purchase. However, the ReplayTV Service will still apply to that unit even if you give it or sell it to a friend or family member. Thus, any service that is activated follows the ReplayTV 4500 unit and not the person. "
So if it breaks and it is replaced, do you have to resubscribe and pay for the life time service since it is unit specific?
1) It becomes illegal to make a computer available to the public that does not have an operating system if there is no built in hardware protection. In addition, it places the copy protection in business environments where is has no place (IE On network servers).
2) we will never know if the technology is resistent to attack since it's illegal to try to circumevent it (thanks DMCA)
3) Sec 4. "An interactive computer service shall store and transmit with integrity any security measure associated with standard security technologies that is used in connection with copyrighted material such service transmits or stores. " To me sounds like the product must be able to "call home" This to me sounds like an illegal search.
Please change the way inwhich stats are reported. IIS, IE, Index Server, and the like all ship now with Windows 2000/XP just like Apache, WuFTP ship with most Linux Distros. Since this is the case, those security flaws are also security flaws in Windows 2000/XP in the much in the same way that Apache, WuFTP and other packages security flaws are being reports with Linux Distros.
This is one I found in my Apache's Logs.

Humm... July 17th ZDnet reports the worm and that Microsoft haven't received any complaints -

Now CNet says it's spreading nicely...
Wonder who got the story right and who jumped too early.
Common People. Look at their forum. You will be surprised that many of us have begged to send them money and to cut out the middle man. They resisted for as long as I can remember and I have been reading and occasionally posting to Mandrakeforum since it's creation.
It's a donation. It's not required. It's not forced down your throat, it's optional, there is no set amount. If you don't want to do it, then don't do it. You can download the ISOs, you can get all the source code, you can buy the boxed set.
GET OVER IT PEOPLE
Ok, I'm a Day late and a dollar short, but here's how I would do it.
Code as Expression.
1) As most have said, code is another language which in it's uncompiled state is used to exchange ideas with others who understand the language and in many cases can cross the barriers of spoken language making it much more powerfull communications tool. I know quite a few programmers who can not communicate via spoken or plain written english, but can communicate extreamly well via C and VB code.
2) Binary & Compiled code is proving their origional expression is valid or invaild on atleast one or more instances. It is the same thing as showing the use of a mathamatical formula, diagraming Symbolic Logic, or building a model or the real thing of something proving it works or fails.
The need for Best quality fair use:
1) Backups. every media format can and often does fail.
2) Transfer from one High quality format to another for personal use. An example of this quite simple:
When I buy a movie I buy a license to play back that movie in my own home for my personal use. Now I have a DVD Rom Drive in my computer and a High quality DVD Decoder Board with S-Video out. I use my computer to playback DVD on my main TV. I also own multiple computers and TVs without DVD capabilities. I purchase a DVD and use it playback on my main TV. In order to play it back in a visually pleasing manner on my other TVs I need to transfer it in it's full quality to other media formats (IE hard drive). Since there are Multiple computers without DVD drives but high quality Video cards (read Nvidia or ATI) with TV out, in order to enjoy the full quality of the DVD format I need to transfer the origional in it's full digital format to my other computers without Macrovision, or the loss of quality incured by transfering to something such as VHS video tape. Also to keep DVD features such as menus, Multiple Angles, slide shows and the like. All of which are features which has an impact on if I purchase a video on DVD or VHS.
The RIAA is quick to point out the first amendment rights of their artists who preach hate and violence.
They are just as quick to throw out everyone else's rights when it may threaten them.
Will we know what exactly is being "encrypted" by CPRM?
What recourse will an end user have in the event of a device failure where the device needs to be replaced?
How can we be certain that our own material is not being encrypted?

Riverbed Steelhead appliances or similar products?
This one makes for an interesting turn of events.

Where is Home Depot and Lowes?
Why aren't they also listed as defandants?
Afterall they are selling or offering to sell the device.

Although it would have been nice to see more signatures from more major projects, I have to say the response was written beautifully. A job well done!
