It REALLY depends. There are several fast-moving and emerging programming disciplines which are too new to even exist at an educational institution yet. Once they DO exist at an educational institution, you can bet the info is outdated and the people teaching them have no idea what they're doing.
Now I hear you saying that if you learn the fundamentals in school that they're applicable elsewhere. This is true, assuming they're the correct fundamentals, and there is a good possibility they are NOT. Once again, outdated info can hurt in the programming world, depending on which area you end up working in.
Someone else posted about needing a degree to get past HR. Once again, this is partially true. On the other hand, if you make your own project, library, framework, or some other programming project, release it into the world and show it off, people WILL hire you. These days the #1 request I get from anyone is "show us your github code repository" or "show us examples of your work."
It is ENTIRELY possible to get coding work without a degree. In fact, sometimes the people doing the hiring will PREFER that.
That said, a large portion of college has NOTHING to do with learning a profession.
And yet it still sucks at presenting me with any news I'm interested in. I think I've clicked on a news story from that feed only once and by accident. Hint : I don't have any interest in sports, politics, celebrity gossip, pop music, old news, and pretty much anything else they've recommended.
Maybe YOUR phones are, but mine are not. 3 years and it only has 1 slight scratch on the frame. PS: I don't use a screen protector or a case. I just take good care of my things.
I'd mod you up if I could. This is the best way to try out new languages. If, for example, you're looking into web based languages, you could use a tool like todomvc.com. They have tutorials for solving the same problem using different languages.
These days there really should be a basic computer networking class that everyone has to take. If there were then people would know how to fix these problems themselves. Lockdown your LAN and make sure you keep your wireless device software up to date with super strong passwords, if you really need to have wireless.
Needs funding and non-commercial are two entirely different things. Non-commercial means you can't sell it. Needs funding means exactly that, needs funding. There are ways to get funding without selling something.
I agree. I wonder if its truly 17 channels or if its 17+ shows. I don't really care about channels as much as I do about specific shows (of which personally I watch less than 17 shows).
And this is relevant to people who drive cars how?
Don't get me wrong, I love bikes, they're just not a realistic option for everyone and all situations.
(I have no idea if it does or does not. Also the speed of the storage will factor in to it).
Yes, but what about screen size? If it has to push more pixels then it might be a problem.

Only the background image. Media queries don't modify HTML, they modify CSS.
Nevermind, I re-read your note and saw the "superpower" part this time.
So we'll be hearing more about North Korea on a near daily basis then?
Thanks, and no I did not realize that.
PS: This news is of interest to me, but it's hardly related to technology or geek culture.
I'm not sure why you're modded at zero points. I'd mod you up if I could.
I hate to break it to you, but sometimes the "local observatory" is hundreds of miles away...

You're in luck, they plan for exactly that.

Hint : you took calculus. Most people can't even get that far. Congratulations. You can math.
Funny, I got an email. Check your spam folder though. Gmail flagged it as spam for me.
It is NOT impossible to LEGALLY visit Cuba. My friend did it in a study abroad program during college in the US. That said, they don't make it easy.

Ditto

I'm guessing his point is that he would prefer it to not be tracked at all.
Do you honestly think they DO tell the banks what they do for a living? No. The banks look at who the paychecks come from.

I just wanted to say, this is relevant to my interests
