That already exists. If humans survive, machines will survive to be reverse engineered. And they will not be theoretical OS machines , but mass produced tried and tested machines which become OS as soon as civilization collapses.
I agree, this just seem like a bunch of open source nutjobs that wanted a cool way to spin some OS stuff. This does not seem to have any practical connection to civilization founding.
I think in general most people are pro-union here in Canada.
And yes their main benefit is a leveling of the playing field. But I have never heard of voluntary unions, as far as I know all north american unions have complete monopolies on the companies they oversee and they do not allow individuals to threaten their monopoly by working outside of their system.
For example government laws, and ubiquitous union practices make Strikebreaking very hard, and when the strike is over basically always fired. So because of unions I cannot individually decide that a job is worth taking, unions will not allow anyone to work a job that they want more money for and you have to put up with seniority based importance instead of skill based importance. If you are simply better than everyone else (or just complete crap at your job), that has no effect on your pay, chance of getting fired, or opportunity for advancement.
That is why, IMHO, unions have far far more negative qualities that good qualities, except for the absolute bottom of the barrel unskilled fields.
And nearly as bad as corporations for stifling individual choice. When people were just willing to not put up with horrible working conditions and horrible pay on a individual level we would not need unions.
You cannot compare brain computing to modern computer computing. The brain is parallel, so no reasonable amount serial processors will match it.
Quantum computing is some interesting tech that might allow up to simulate it, or using specifically designed parallel hardware.
I would say that we have far surpassed the human brain is computer processing power, but have not yet simulated it, and cannot using normal modern methods (but we could simulate a human brain if we really wanted to using current technology).
This really sounds like a straw man argument by RD here. He builds up this one example where it should not be taken as a insult, ignoring 99% of its real world use and meaning.
Someone does not just go up to some geek and say, you are ignorant of Baseball. In the real word someone expresses an opinion and you might call them ignorant as a way of blowing them off. Of saying that they are not even worth arguing against. It is an insult, and is just like f*** y**, except that it attempts to give a general reason for the disrespectful blowoff.
He and other Atheists, including myself, are not just telling someone who knows nothing about Baseball that they are ignorant of Baseball. We are tell self professed experts on Baseball that they are completely ignorant and their entire way of reasoning and belief system is wrong and idiotic. We might say it nicely sometimes, and other times we say it harshly and with contempt, but every time that is what we are saying.
Richard Dawkins is saying that they cannot be offended because they are wrong, but until you convince them of that that argument is a waste of time.
So does this mean that you would need to do a 100% perfect parking job to get the 90%, and if you were off by a few inches it would go way down, be off by a half a foot and it would not work at all? It seems to me that parking the car perfectly would be significantly more work than just getting it within reach of a cable.
For the tiny minority of people who knew enough and cared enough it only makes sense to allow no tracking to make them happy. Particularly since they the users would of found a way not to be tracked no matter what in most cases.
Ya, I remember back a few years ago when as a university student you could use wikipedia to look up information on mathematical concepts and equations. Then they changed everything and made it basically useless.
I agree, I have no idea why game windows are not handled better. It is basically impossible to run many, quite possibly most, games in a window. And even the ones that do allow it often require editing of files or hacking the exe. Theoretically the OS should be being sent this visual data and no matter how it was programed you would resize it/run it in a window.

But if civilization has collapsed, or you are just building a new one, everything is open source.
So why not just reverse engineer existing tech...
You do not need an organization to demand decent treatment individually, you just need to not be a complete moron.

The unskilled and too stupid to protect their own rights.
Anyone working in a highly skilled field does not need them.
If by failed you mean the biggest, best, and most stable economy in the world is communistic, about half the world population as well.
Then yes, it is a spectacular failure.

Since 90% of online based businesses are based on that exact same model.
It has a $500,000 goal, and has so far only gotten $886,252.

I have to say that I had not heard of this island, its people, this hot spring, or this earthquake before.
I wonder what the chances are that this will cause pressure to build up underground and eventually explode.
Or a necessity. Would you rather have a million line file or 1,000 1,000 line files (categorised and organized).

I think being called ignorant of anything that you think you know enough about to have an opinion of has always been an insult.

I think I would go with the cable myself, you would also save a few thousand on car and wireless transmitter as well I imagine.
Well they are clearly superior. That is the entire point of a tab. Why use the space character as a crappy replacement when you have tabs.
It is a great standard that would of worked.

Yogurt is basically the same process, hell they have successfully monetized bottled water.
Do not underestimate the laziness of the average American.
