The government already had the power over life and death, and far more worryingly then killing a few undesirables is their stance on not allowing you the choice to death. To me power over your life is far worse then your death. And turning criminals into slaves is worse than permanently removing them from society.

OK the distraction is a task, for the sake of the argument, I will agree on that point. But how are we to measure the productivity of ignoring the distraction.
And at the end of day, it does not matter if it is standard methodology. It matters if it actually correct methodology.
A partially subconscious "task" is not the same as actually having a goal (or 2 in the case of multitasking) and actively accomplishing it/them. And if the reason of study is to find productivity you must add up all tasks, which is impossible if we are talking about distractions as tasks. Of course if you add a second concurrent task you become slower at the first task, but overall you very well might be getting more done, the same, or less (this study cannot say either way, as it is flawed).
That is simply distraction. According to the summery they where only ever tasked with doing one thing, but in the "multitasking" phase they where distracted by extraneous noises.
The problem with that is that the only reason there is any real demand for diamonds at all is because they are expensive. They are a way to show off wealth, and if they became as cheap as supply/demand would make them then demand would go to about 0.
And a lot of rich people would lose trillions of dollars overnight.
Well that is why the definition of a warp drive is that it warps space so that traveling a short distance actually brings you a far distance. You are traveling slower than light, but covering greater distances.

Well that is assuming the main issue us with inefficiency. A car rolling down the screen at a constant velocity needs little fuel since in a perfect world you only need to offset a little air resistance.
But launching a rocket into space have pretty huge and mostly irreducible forces acting against you. Air resistance and gravity. Launching something into space is always going to cost a LOT of fuel, in a world were fuel is quickly dwindling. We are never going to have solar powered rockets, or even nuclear.
Now if we invent a teleporter or create a space elevator, that is a different story.
Well you do hear about governments retroactively changing decisions all the time. Like when they retroactively re-voted on the Japanese internment issue of WW2, cannot remember if it was Canada or the US. So as far as the records go, we officially, as a country, voted unanimously against interning Japanese Americans/Canadians for no reason.
I cannot see how this would not clear all involved of crimes/war crimes at the same time.
What is the fundraiser for? He was an american diplomat, any amount that any normal people could raise would not chance the privileged lifestyle that his kids certainly live with. Even if they raised millions of dollars, what are they going to spend it on? A second summer cottage, maybe they could finally afford that luxury yacht they always wanted?
Doing things with money, like having a space program makes jobs, and if done right can be a big boost to many people in India. What else do you what them to do with the money, give it to poor people? I think we all know that will not produce any long term good.
In Canada, from coast to coast, I believe, we only have basically 4 speed limits. In increasing speed they are: School area, Town/City area (50 K), Rural (70 K, I think), Highway (80K). In some special instances you might see some differences but night is never a factor and Highways are always 80K.
It seems like the most dangerous thing you could do is have a different speed for night driving, because different people will have different opinions of when night starts.
Even if homeopathic med. does absolute nothing, the placebo effect would still make it better, and in some cases more effective, medicine than many mainstream medicines. And let us not get too cocky, most people have thought they, or at least society in general, have known everything there is to know since the beginning of time. Do you really think we are actually their yet? Most disproofs of most homeopathic med. is entirely based on "this cannot work in theory" logic, and only valid if you really think we know everything there is to know.
The problem with mini-holidays like this is that teachers will just give you lots of homework. Many are already doing this for summer, but you can only give so much in one giant chunk. And you cannot have every student learning something different in a class, because they all take holidays at a different time.
It is relevant as children still get summer jobs, they are just not on the farm.
And as certain demographics has gotten more successful and be able to go on holidays and only work 8 hours a day they had time to lounge around and go on holidays, why should their kids no partake in this as well.
