  1. Re:OS X Mail on Mozilla Thunderbird 0.6 Released · · Score: 2, Informative

Thunderbird offers HTML email capabilities whereas Mail will only do "Rich Text" which is a very small subset. I tried Thunderbird on OSX as I loved it on Windows but I'm holding off until they integrate with the address book and show the number of new messages on the dock icon.

  2. Best of Both Worlds on Fuel Cells To Appear In Laptops In 2004 · · Score: 1

Why not have both? When you are in areas that have easy access to the grid you swap in the traditional rechargable. When you are away from the grid you swap in a fuel cell.

Richmond and Spadina is a huge IT / .com area. No surprise at all that there are lots of nodes in that area. I would expect it.

You're taking the suggestion too literally. You only need to store an identifier in the cookie and store all the data on a Google server with a matching ID. That said, unless you provide Google with your name or other personal identifiers there is no way for them to know who you are.

  5. Re:only 10 results per search?? on Google Releases Web APIs · · Score: 1

I thought this was strange at first until I realised this was based on their existing search.

Perform a search on Google. By default you'll get a list of ten results. The "Next" link shows a parameter called "start" that on the first result is 10, the second 20, and so on. So you can get more than 10 results by using multiple queries. This means the maximum number of results per day is 10,000.

I have two machines both running 0.9.5 and one hangs on both Yahoo! mail send and on Slashdot! Damn!

If I erase the cache Slashdot works but soon after stops responding in the manner you speak of. Obviously this is not a blanket bug and tough to track down as it will require certain factors to be in place.

A complete uninstall might fix it but I honestly have no idea what could be causing it.

  7. Right to Tinker on Digital Convergence Likes Hackers (?) · · Score: 3

Does DC have a right to dictate the use of a product that was given away for free? Did the product come with a disclaimer that stated how it was to be used? I don't believe that by giving someone a product without prior consent that you can legally dictate how they use it. Does DC have the right to sue if I decide to trash, break, or burn the product?

They're sore because there lame marketing idea has found a better purpose and all that money has gone to waste.

  8. Re:ha! on Napster Attacks Open Source Clone · · Score: 1

In the previous version of Napster there was banner space indicating that it was available for rent. It's possible that this was removed due to the RIAA scare, but there may be other motivations. Personally, if I were at a music company, I would welcome Napster and pay for the ad space. If you can't beat em, well...
