Capacitors used on your motherboard are mostly there as part of filter circuits and therefore chosen for their unique transient response (i.e. exactly how they behave over time once a voltage is applied). In other words, the discharge rate matters. Can't be too fast, can't be too slow.
Designing silicon based super caps for long term energy storage with slow discharge does not automatically mean that the same tech will replace regular electrolytic caps. I'm not saying they won't, haven't even read TFA, but the design goals are certainly distinct.
So a healthcare bill identical to one first implemented by Romney in MA and designed by a conservative 'think tank' in the 90's is not middle ground?
You're wrong buddy and you're trying to look insightful by blaming all sides but there is no substance and no insight to that. This is very clearly a case of the nutjobs taking control of the Republican party and making a mess of things.
Applicances are not intercompatible with appliances and intercompatability between the word 'compatibility' and the prefix 'inter' is dubious at best. As is any claim you make.
BS. Why is Israel expanding settlements, taking more Palestian land, and imposing ever harsher restrictions on them? They are the aggressor and the occupying power. Maybe a good starting point would be for the Israeli administration to acknowledge Palestinian's right to a dignified existence and take steps to allow that to happen.
Seriously, I may have been trolled, but when I replied to this troll his post was at +5 insightful, so shame on you mods. How anyone would throw mod points at this wacko is beyond me.
p.s. I'm actually not a Muslim, not that it matters, but if it triggers you to reassess your crappy world view then I think I should mention it. Then again, if you're just trolling then you got me again.
But even worse than that, you're an idiot. I'm yet to meet a truly gifted and intelligent person who is racist.
You've made some claims about the reasons for your living the good life compared to others without providing a shred of evidence in support other than to denigrate other cultures.
The reality, according to people in the know, is that the Angry Arab Jamboree of 2011/2012 was caused by severe financial pressure caused by food poverty on already badly-run middle-eastern Muslim countries.
Wow. Just like that you managed to lump four or five completely different protest movements in different countries run by different political and religious ideologies into.
The people who run these countries like to keep their people illiterate, corrupt, religious and poor so they can maintain control; unfortunately for them, it gives them VERY little margin for error when a few harvests fail, especially when even in good times, 70% of the country is quite literally on the breadline.
70%? Quite literally? Which country are you talking about? Do you have figures to back up that claim? (Hint: The Middle East is not a country)
Saudi Arabia is highly strict religiously but they are very wealthy and spend a tonne of money on education. They don't need an ignorant populace to stay in control. Mubarak in Egypt always painted the Muslim Brotherhood as the bogey man and was very popular among secularists and the non Muslims.
I have little sympathy for anybody here. It's self inflicted -- people dumb enough to wait until they're starving -- and spending 70% of their incomes on bread -- before they hold their governments accountable probably deserve the kicking they're getting.
Yeah those mothers watching their kids go hungry, or the wives scared to watch their husbands go off to work in the fear that they may be abducted or shot by a sniper, yeah they deserve what they're getting. What jackass you are. You have demonstrated your complete ignorance of the complexity and diversity politics of the region, and you completely ignore the effects of outside political interference.
Next time you feel like opening your mouth about the Middle East go do some serious research, or just shut the hell up.
I had the privilege of working on a project there for a few months. I have to say that the CSIRO is one of the institutions that Australians should be most proud of, but unfortunately, most have little idea of what it is or what kind of work goes on there.
Whatever you're working on, keep up the good work!
Most of it will be returned to the ecosystem anyway. It's not like the water will be stored forever. It will likely be used very quickly and very close to the source of collection. It will be used to either grow plants, or hydrate humans or animals. Either way, it will end up being evaporated back into the atmosphere and there will be no net change in the long term.
Nobody knew what it was, of course (yes, I asked, bad move if you cared whether Marketing liked you). I'd say it was—and is—a marketing meme trying to push its way into reality.
Good use of the em-dash there. Don't see much of it on here, but you do see a lot of unnecessary and nested parentheses.
This is a fair sentiment with regards to donated computers, but what about for computers that are paid for with the intent of selling at a profit? I'm talking about tested, working units that are late generation Pentium 4 and greater.
You can't tell me that there is no utility in these items and I won't for a second believe that a Ghanain trader would pay good money to purchase and then ship these containers overseas just so they can be scrapped.
And with only 14 years coverage, I suppose it would be ok to make my own closed fork of the linux kernel also?
Your closed fork would have to be from a 14 year old revision though. Linus is frequently adding and modifying the kernel source tree and the 14 year limitation would apply to any new works from the moment they are created.
So in other words, no, it would not be okay to make your own closed fork of the Linux kernel unless you want that closed fork to be of Linux as it was 14 years ago.
Compared to other varieties who are more than happy to tear away at flesh, that would explain why Obsidion pugs are so small. Cute little buggers though, and so helpful in surgery.
I hear there's a volcanic glass that also sharpens very well... maybe they should take a look at using those. Wouldn't make a mess in the operating theatre either.
Oh the fucking irony of it. I was trying to post the following using pre and code tags without success and just ended proving your point:
Sure. Because
def function():
if condition:
while ok:
do_something()
end while
end if
end def
Is much more readable than:
def function():
if condition:
while ok:
do_something()

In Vietnam, government says, "Don't say that shit online!"
In the Free World, government says, "Go ahead! Say that shit online. We're watching..."
Well it's Woosh-like but not WOOSH®

Yeah because designing a GPU is not really making stuff. A bit like how writing software is done by lawyers and executives.
This sounds like good news and an obvious step to me. It should lead to smaller and more energy efficient computing devices in the future.
Here's another point of view for you to consider: http://www.jonathan-cook.net/2012-11-18/why-gaza-must-suffer-again/
It's an interesting premise for a story, but I don't know if I really bought into the whole going crazy thing.
Think you're a bright SPARC do ya?

If you buy Standard and wish to run it under another hyper-visor, such as KVM or ESXi, are you entitled to run three instances, two, or one?

Is there a way to "watch" a comment, that is not your own, on Slashdot, to see if it gets any replies?

Of the nuclear power kind...
I think you've homed in on an interesting point.

The ThinkPad Tablets are tough as nails and include a digitizer screen and stylus. They sense when you are using the stylus and can filter out your palm touching the screen so they are very comfortable to write on.
If more engineers were making executive decisions the global economy may not be in the state it is.
