I hear 99.999% of all statistics on the internet are true too!

shrug... I've been running Vista 64 bit and other then a graphic driver related issue over a year ago I haven't had a crash. I never turn my PC off. I think there may have been 3 patches? that required re-boots in that time... Considering I use it mostly for games and web-surfing that's pretty good... I think folks need to get off the FUD about vista... I prefer linux and if it played games(the ones I want to play anyway) I would use it. but it doesn't so I use MS.

you shouldn't be running vista then :P I've been running vista since I built my PC in Jan. Except for some video driver issues back in march. I think I've had 4-5 crashes.(usually game related) I use the "sleep" function so it goes weeks/months without a reboot... Usually even then just because a windows patch required a reboot.. Is Vista the best thing out there? probably not. But I bet its at least as stable XP at this point in its life cycle. Almost everyone I've seen complaining that it's terrible has either been trying to run it a on a machine they shouldn't(too old or a laptop without vista drivers) or there doing something that would crash any OS...

The hospital I work in still uses them. in-fact in addition to doctors, our IS department still uses them. and should. Pagers are STILL by far much more reliable then cell phones. If your in a field where you need to make sure you can be reached you use a pager. Although service has improved cell phones still have dead spots and don't work very well in large buildings. In fact at work the only place you get cell service is IS because we have a repeater, which breaks every couple of weeks. (and is currently broke in fact)

We have all this beautiful technology and we can't agree on their interfaces.

The interfaces are intentionally designed not to match... Blame the greedy Manufactures that want to sell a new car charger with every cell phone...
