This just sounds like a really good reason to put in a data field for state when signing up for an app, and exclude Californians from use of the app, and explain to them because over burdening regulations our App is not available in your state, please contact the California Attorney Generals office for more information regarding these regulations.
While there a lot of people in California, sometimes it's best to just avoid states or places where your work is not appreciated.
So it's okay that it's not in your neighborhood, and you're okay it's in a less than desirable area? Sounds like the people that want wind energy, but they don't want them anywhere near their home...
I would love to switch all of our boxes off XP, but the manufacturer of the equipment we sell and service seems to like writing their service software in VB. I have tried every single configuration and software option with the windows 7 machine we have and it will not work, so for our three service benches we need XP machines for the foreseeable future. I work in the Ag industry where IT is still the lowest man on the totem pole.
Misinformed? You can think what you want, but when I was a child and they gave me the MMR vaccine I was hospitalized, and in the ICU, this was repeated three times with other vaccines because some idiot doctor in the Air Force insisted I was faking it. My child had the same reaction after her MMR vaccine, so there is no misinformed, no ignorance on my part. Not everyone can take vaccines, and to call me an idiot is ignorant and quite honestly just being a dick. I don't oppose vaccines, but I can't take them.
Some people actually cannot take vaccinations, there is not a vaccination on this planet that does not make me ill, and my daughter ill. So guess what we're not vaccinated, we're still alive, and both of us survived chicken pox, mumps, and measles. This societal belief that a shot or a pill will fix the world is slowly going to turn around and bite everyone in the ass.
And this persons Constitutional rights were not just violated, but trampled all over. Who cares if you believe in a conspiracy theory that Barney the purple dinosaur and friends were involved in the 9/11 tragedy. We have rights guaranteeing such idiocy.
How many people have groaned, complained and had nuke, wind and hydro station plans shut down? Then we've got MidAmerican in Iowa attempting to pass on the risk of potentially building a nuclear plant on rate payers, instead of the business by charging surcharges for the building of a nuclear plant that the company may or may not build.
So many people cry not in my backyard, we're shutting down coal capacity every year, and electricity rates can do nothing but go up, but we want to rely on electricity to move our society, there is something with that picture.
So, you want to fly a plane that is green, and you want to power it from electricity?! WTF is wrong with people, burning one fossil fuel instead of another is not green.... The majority of America and the world's electricity comes from the burning of fossil fuels, the difference is the energy comes across miles of wire instead of the combustion engines we currently use. Electric vehicles are not more green than combustion engines, the pollution is just offset to a different location instead of your tailpipe...
damn straight they'll kill it, kicking back money to GM is dumb, all tax incentives need to be shut down. If the market can't support it why should those of us who actually pay taxes pay for it.
It's a breath of fresh air, until all the electric plants burning coal have to ramp up production of electricity to meet the demand of all these tailpipe diversion cars.
Cheap Illegal workers? Not on a corn operation. The majority of farms in the grain belt are still large family farms with the family, or partner farms running equipment. Many corn operations don't even de-tassel corn anymore. When you've got most farmers using 20 row planters, and 20 row combines a full time farmer can plant and harvest their entire farm in a matter of days. Very little happens after the last fertilizer spray on the field until harvest season.
Cheap wages? Only in the food industry. Yes those who run a cash register, or flip burgers make minimum wage, but our skilled workers can make a decent wage. We don't start people out making $20 an hour, but I know plenty of people who have gotten there after several years of actual work.
Food is cheap because we produce the worlds corn, and soybeans, which feeds the worlds beef and pork industry. China, and Brazil still import billions of tons of grain from the United States.
I'm all for efficient modes of travel, but heck there isn't even a bus lane that comes near my house, or drives past my office. I live 4 miles from my office. What do you propose there? Bicycling is out of the question for about 5 months of the year in Iowa. And in the summer season I prefer not to show up to my office sweating in the morning. My wife COULD take the bus, but she would have to drive into our suburban city, park her car, then take 3 buses to get to her office and triple her commute time. The drive to the nearest park and ride is about 15 minutes from our house. And the opposite direction from our house.
Mass Transit is not the answer in the US.
If they where pigeon hunting (which is a legal pastime in many areas) they where likely using a 12 gauge shotgun with #8 birdshot, which has an effective range (deadly) of about 50 yards, even with a very tight choke on the shotgun might get a range of MAYBE 100 yards. I'm suspecting the "drone" was damaged and didn't just fall from the sky, but had a controlled landing. Might have been a few people around with handguns, but that's a pretty impressive shot beyond 50 yards.
Either way, I don't really have a problem with them shooting it down, they where invading their privacy while doing something completely legal.
I have been to several different doctors in the different regions I have lived, Michigan, Texas and Iowa. I simply don't get vaccinated. I got Measles as a child as well as the mumps. As far as the flu, I have stayed relatively flu free as an adult. I get the occasional respiratory infection, and walking pneumonia about once every 10 years. My daughter has the same reactions to the vaccines I do, and she too got sick, but because everyone else gets vaccinated it doesn't spread. I have had doctors try to tell me I'm lying, have them get my records from my childhood. One Air Force doctor thought he knew better too, and put me in the hospital after he forced me to take the flu, and anthrax vaccines.
It's not an egg allergy. My allergist has not been able to come up with a reason, but every single time since I was a toddler I have been hospitalized after any sort of immunization.
Really? Next time it's flu season, come to Iowa, and I'll get the vaccine, and you can pay my hospital bill. I've been hospitalized every single time I've had a vaccine, as has my child.
So it's okay they refuse me, and my children because we have allergic reactions to nearly all forms of vaccines because of the process by which they are made? Or should I force my children to take a vaccine for a disease that MIGHT make them sick, but the vaccine will put them in the hospital?
"You live in a democracy. Your rights are granted to you by society (i.e. the people, i.e. you). When people realize this, democracy will actually work properly and the world will be a better place."
No I don't live in a democracy, I live in a republic. As much as people might want a democracy we don't live in one, and hopefully the United States will never become a true democracy.
If you're so flipping worried about the environment, unplug every entertainment device in your house, buy yourself a bicycle, or use mass transit, stop driving that 30 minute commute, and install a wind/solar energy device in your home and stop utilizing fossil fuels. Otherwise you're just another whinny hippocrate, telling others how to live their lives.
I'm guessing the so-called 1% don't use facebook, but they do control it, and if you want your product to succeed without begging for donations on a daily/regular basis like wikipedia does you're stuck getting your funding and financing through the "1%". And the first thing that jumped out at me in the article was the fact they don't like some corporate body controlling their data. Well what do they think their little project is going to do? Use data has to be store somewhere centrally, and there needs to be content control or it will be taken over by spam-bots and porn peddlers like facebook still battles. You want to know more about your users to provide them with the best user experience you have to spy on them, and eventually you or the management will be co-opted by either corporate interests, or government interests.
I have been leery of the "occupy" movement since day one. I don't like their philosophy. I work hard, first in the office, and often last out, and by doing so was able to provide my employer a value to the company, we have had tough times when my hours got cut I went out and waited tables to make up the difference. I pay my bills, my mortgage, car payments, and bills are paid every month. We are not guaranteed a house, car, or even a roast in the pot, just the opportunity to gain those things if we work hard enough.
I never once said there isn't a need for a welfare system. I stated that if I want to bust my ass to get ahead I should have that right.... It took me 14 years of hard work, saving, and lots of overtime to get where I am. But those who rely on government assistance to get ahead will never ever understand that.
I live in an awesome condo, looking to buy my second house, and both mine, and my fiance's car are paid off... oh yeah my medical benefits are taken care of by myself.... hmm seems like actually not relying on welfare works.

Wtf I'm an idiot because so called medicines have repeatedly almost killed me?and have hospitalized my child?
Some people actually cannot take vaccinations, there is not a vaccination on this planet that does not make me ill, and my daughter ill. Now you're all in big big trouble

anyone who wants to bitch at me for driving my SUV, or using a computer
