In addition, I don't see why more servers/companies to move to less restrictive environments. It is a "global village" after all, isn't it? Why bother to pay, host and live under the american big brother when you can completely sidestep him and continue along your merry way.
I wouldn't be surprised if the next american invasion was based on copyright, instead of oil;)
This is a very sticky thing, apples and oranges between the TPB and the prince of pot. Not to take it off on a tangent, but the reason buddy got busted was because he was distributing his seeds in the states.
Not saying right or wrong, just giving the whole story:)
Like everything else MS produces, it will be renamed, repackaged and all the yukyuks of the world will rebuy the exact same product, once again, proving without a fraction of doubt, that the masses are incredibly dumb.
Me? I'm still holding out for Microsoft Windows Bliss 2010 v1.0 to drop, their new OS. I'm so excited. Apparently its unhackable.
Well, I'm not going to search the web for you;) haha, but if google hadn't stopped indexing books, it would be there. But it does point you to several libraries, based on a couple of factors (postal code, country) etc etc:)
Google is the printing press and library of the digital age. I need information, I can get it. Of course, politicians alike don't mind subjected the masses to near communist levels of taxation, but the second 'we the people' want to cash in on other fringe benefits of such an ideology, they get all up in arms about it. As much as I dislike the thought of a corporation running rampant outside of the boundaries of the law, I can't see who it is hurting.
And don't reply the 'author', because I see the quality of what kind of material your average author is either forced to create or otherwise, at the supermarket: Utter crap. Google books helps me find Noam Chomsky's material in a flash, ironic that I would have to pay for 'Imperial Ambitions', don't you think?
Well, this is because they have to apply to the lowest common denominator. I'm sure if they did offer sftp services (It would take a competent admin 5 minutes to setup an sftp server) it would get usage.
As well, there would probably be some crazy cool, well-coded gui ssh apps to help your standard user to get up and running in seconds.
hmm, going through port 80, they would have to inspect every handshaking header packet. On every computer. Thats probably why the comcast service is so slow;)
I thought of that, of course, that the technology that wins will always be the easiest to setup, and ssh is more difficult to use than not.. but it was more directed to the comment in the header. I just figured that the "competent" administrator would know how to bypass such restrictions. Remember the old days, when one had to have at least an IQ of over 100 to connect to the net, and it wasn't clogged with porn and javascript?
Besides, what is an IT administrator doing using ftp anyways?
Hmm, perhaps if you ssh tunneled out on port 80 to a proxy or destination server... in that way, the ISP at the most:
1) Couldn't read your traffic
2) Wouldn't be able to tell what application you were using (IE 21 = ftp, etc)
Just a thought..
...because they would rather figure it out for themselves...
I couldn't agree more with this statement. "Don't tell me how to do it, I can figure it out on my own" mentality.
I always chuckled when I would read a post on flipcode.. "How do you do quaternion camera?" or something similar...
But don't get me wrong, I also like the sharing of information for the good of the community, IE directX tutorials, good algorithms for hit-detection etc etc...
I haven't rtfa, but I won't look at "thirteen timeless demos.." if it doesn't have Second Reality by the Future Crew. That demo, singlehandedly, motivated me to be a programmer, and duplicate what I saw. If the author of the list hasn't discovered it, or decided not to include it, then imho, its would be a waste of time to look at it his uninformed list.
Juice was another good one.
The two polyhedral meshes, with transparency (blue on red, I believe?), blew my arse right off the map.
I love it when the truly retarded stand up, and for all the world to see and hear, reveal, in fact, that they are, truly retarded. Its not like I ever buy U2 albums, but I'm going to download their entire discography, just out of spite now.
Its not like shaw doesn't randomly disconnect me already, and this guy wants them to sift through my downloads and disconnect me if I download *.mp3?
To quote a great man:

I didn't RTFA, or 99% of other posts, following common/. practice, so I might be repeating someone. Way back in the day when I bought my first cel phone, it came with SMS, and there wasn't any charge for it. I could send as many as I wanted, and it wouldn't appear on my bill. There wasn't even a section on my bill for it.
So yeah, I know that the capability has been there for years.
Better yet, trade them in for american paper airplanes, and when the american economy/currency eventually rebounds, you make money. for more paper airplanes.
I wonder if this technology can be mutated such that it can give people with spinal cord injuries similar locomotion.
Mutated in such a way not to require amputation, of course.
Interesting.
Maybe its due to the inherit complexity of the iPhones. I know, that when I'm working/busy, I can't be bothered to navigate through menus/fancy slide shows. All I want to do is type 7 numbers and talk. I can imagine, it seemed like a good idea at the time to buy the iPhone, but people are probably tending to revert to the older, simpler, quicker technology of the classic cel.
This is why I don't trust a foreign server for a sole electronic copy of a critical document. For the most important documents, I keep a multiple hard-copies, including one in my freezer. Don't tell anyone, our secret/.
I just had a mental image of soccor moms firing themselves into walls at biblical porportions, drinking a latte, chatting on the cel phone,
I hope there is an IQ minimum *shudder*

Its as if a million voices cried out and were suddenly silenced. Or something. I'm none too good at this meme crap
As a side note, I usually turn my computer off, upon doing a freshie, until it is all loaded up with security patches, service packs, and AV software.
I only plug it into the sewer known colloquially as the 'intahrweb' until I'm sure I'm not going to get a fscking virus. But, I'm old skool
That is to be expected, as 78.3% of people make up statistics as they go along.

Soon, all servers will be hosted in Sweden.

wow, that was rather rantish.

Yeah, I don't think he's great either, I think I said it merely for the dichotomy of it.

...what the fuck did socan ever do for me... Did you not just say they send you a cheque every 3 months? That can't be half bad for a pentatonic riff.I wonder if this technology can be mutated such that it can give people with spinal cord injuries similar locomotion.
