No doubt. I wonder how often (if ever) they check the reliability of the components they outsource. Perhaps, as is common, they just trust the manufacturer's published test results and treat any problem as a contractual one.
I couldn't imagine living in a country where everyone's so paranoid and scared of others that they think murderers are around every corner. I wonder if more people in the US die of fright rather than due to gunshot wounds.
"I hope we will regard them as critically as we regard any news outlet."
If by "we" you mean the ever-so-discerning 'merican public, then your hopes are stillborn.
I imagine that's the reason the change wasn't resisted too strongly. The government could still use the country's xenophobia to deflect the blame onto those dirty Euro-wogs.
Most of this dual measurement in shops (including the change from gallons to litres at the petrol pumps) came about as part of 'closer European ties' back in the 90s, IIRC. There were certain things the government wouldn't budge on, such as changing road signs to miles, and getting rid of the good old British pint glass.
Actually, they're called 'kilometres' unless you want to be associated with your southern neighbours. Depends how much of a snooty Canadian you are, I suppose.
I'm wondering if they should perhaps be looking for a rather large tree with strange-shaped fruit.
Most journalism schools teach that good news is no news.

That's as maybe, but outsourcing doesn't abrogate the responsibility of the client to check performance.
Could very well be either, or both, or one being caused by the other. Whatever the case, they're going to be scaring the horses.
...more of a shareholder nightmare.
No, but then again that's completely irrelevant as last time I checked China was a country, not a company.
How dare China play games with its own resources? And to the detriment of 'merica! Bad yellow peril! What a horrible, US-centric article!
Maybe not in your universe, but to everyone else this is Teh Internetz.
So when is he going to post his epistle on the door of the cathedral? Is he going to suffer the diet of worms?
No but now you mention it...
Meh, this is Jaffa work.
That's a really interesting data set. Maybe they should be shooting their grocery store owners.

I'm glad you're there too.
I wonder if E&Y used this when they were auditing Lehman Brothers...
Shame they didn't say that about the number of movies they made.
Now that's just silly.
It's only funny because it's true. Bro.

Tough, yes. Needlessly tough, no.
Yup, harshest place in the world.
