They do this somewhat, you wont have to download most of the source engine.
When I add parts of orange box back after I wipe my computer the downloads usually start at 40-50 percent as that is shared
The reason they don't allow steroids is because they give a person an unfair advantage.
So how is a mechanical advantage different from a chemical one? The only difference is because one has a disadvantage in every-day life and so we can't discriminate (don't mean to be a troll)
The reason that they have the para-olympics is for fairness. If an able-bodied athlete can best a disabled one, then that is not fair and they should compete at different levels. Now the problem is simply reversed, no matter whether or not he is good enough to make full use of his advantage, you are setting the precedent of allowing such a mechanical advantage.
The problem is not you (I am assuming you are not a professional boxer) competing with an unfair advantage. But what would happen if we gave someone with experience and training in boxing those same brass knuckles, that person would have an unfair advantage and win. So if we take a pretty good sprinter and we give him an advantage he will do better, as long as he knows how to do what needs to be done.
Let's explain this one. Is your connection always on? Yes. Do you have high speed access to the Internet? Yes. Do you always have high speed access to a specific protocol on the Internet NO. But the problem is that we don't have high speed access to the entire internet, we only get what parts the companies decide we should, so a high speed, always on, connection to the internet should mean just that: a connection to the internet, not a subset of it.
I believe that it is copying movies with the intent to redistribute, but how about if we simply want to use our legally bought media on our computers or on another device.
For example my friend just bought a $60 collection of dvds (I know we are talking about BluRays) to go home and he found that they would not play on his legally bought dvd player. So he was out $60 for a stack of plastic coasters. I have also tried to watch legal dvds on my computer to no avail as it just politely informs me that the computer cannot pass the dvd copy protection.
And remember that since we are buying our media and not redistributing it, we are not "depriving" the companies from anymore money, we are giving them money in support of their work instead of simply bittorrenting it.
And also an analog tape is also data, and by copying it we are not stealing (depriving someone of something), but simply making another copy for our own use.
If we were to give that copy to someone else or make it available online, then I agree with you that would be illegal.

Windows XP also supports 4 gigs of ram on 32-bit, I know this because I am currently using that...
Most people who are willing to spend $1000+ are building their own computers and can install their own OS, so they don't tend to buy bundled OS's.
There are such things a analog recording devices...

But the problem that most people have is that they change the oil, and polish their car everyday and it still blows up in their face with "upgrades"
