That can (and IMO should) be handled by alsa. No app should have to worry about anything put pushing its waves out. The real benefit of pulseaudio is apparently the powersaving (ironically called glitch-free audio), but that should IMO defiantly be in the kernel.

As for polarisation it simple requires 2x def along with special encoding, while that is a lot of work it's still going to be cheaper to up the price of the set and have 10p low tech glasses rather than having a lower tech tv and moving/fragile parts in the glasses that will be much more expensive.

Short of holographic TVs (which will be lame until they are huge), a 3D tv will not be watchable without some sort of glasses on (well perhaps they could use non-visible light and phosphorescent glasses, to allow it degrade to 2d without them), i damn well want the glasses to be cheap or when my mates come round and I'll end up spending £30 just so we can watch family guy while baked (yes there is room for 10 in my mums basement).

On linux a few well placed dereferences and you could probably disable the firewall then run anything in effective root (by removing all security checks), ofc to do damage you would still need a second exploit on an already running process (including those that were protected) to make use of this.

Hunters would use silencers too because gunshots scare the game away.

Please read the thread before posting next time, I agree that hunters use silencers however there is no need for them to go around public land with silencers fitted.

Silencers would be greatly welcomed on public ranges,

Again i see no need to have the silencer fitted before being there. I also doubt this would happen as
    1) afaik its not practical to science lots of guns so ear muffs would still be needed
    2) may people (myself included) like the noise, a quietened noise sounds better than a silenced one
