    Thing is, the pepper sprays leak into their skirts and whatever garments they are wearing underneath and leave them with a burning sensation and even then the skirt wearers would rather burn their coochies than learn how to slip into a pair of pants.

    Unfortunately as they cant tell if its a lollipop, they get raped anyway without even trying to use the mace. Hell if they've been raped many times before they may not even realize its happening!

    Wikipedia doesn't have to contain every piece of information itself.

    Why? i mean if it can be verified and interests more than one person why bother deleting it? That is why i no longer care much for Wikipedia its lost sight of its goals! What was wrong with trying to be a repository of knowledge? why cant trivia be included? why cant articles about comics stay? etc,

    The only answer i can think of is because some elitist pricks decided what they wanted to run Wikipedia and when others started adding content they didn't care about then they started making up rules for what was encyclopedia worthy and what wasn't.

    Right so the us Wikipedia probably shouldn't even mentions that the bible isn't factual, your average reader doesn't want to know that. your average reader doesn't care about Steven_McGeady, PL/I, JOVIAL , or about a million comp sci articles. Sorry setting the bar at what your 'average' reader wants is utterly retarded. Would you^h^h^h a sane person remove the z section of the dictionary because its rarely used?

    isnt the point that x*log(n) (where x represents the extra cost of doing raytracing) is still going to be smaller than n (for large enough n), infact the benifit of switching to raytracing (if it can approach its theoretical limit) is that for highly complex scenes it scales incredibly well (almost flat infact)

    Its a nice story, but i stopped giving a shit about wikiadmins when they showed they were elitist pricks, comics aren't good enough for Wikipedia, nothing on the internet counts as a reputable source, etc. Sure this could be used to stop vandalism, but at the end of the day it will just be another way to keep information OFF wikipedia

    they should still be given the right to express thier views, stand to be elected, etc. sure monitor them invade thier privacy to prevent terrorist acts (if you must), but by forcing your opinions on them you are no better than they are.

    They are? why then is firefox 3.1 not an incremental improvement on 3.0 while linux 2.6.24 is unstable but 2.6.24-distro-numbering is stable.

    ext4 vs reiserfs & jfs would be particularly interesting tbh, its hard NOT to be faster than ext3/2.

    ext3 fscks were just too slow for me, reiser is may be a bit unstable (my laptop's hardware is screwed the HDD bales out and the pci-bus lock up randomly but ive only needed to do a whole disk fsck once (200G in 20min wasnt too bad), so im yet to see it)

    Because anything valuable is backed up and given how slow ext has generally been i have no intention of using ext for anything that doesn't contain critical data, and ill stick with reiserfs/jfs until a better alternative btfs, et al, comes out.

    i still cant use proprietary ATI drivers (on kubuntu 8.04) and flash. I find it varies incredibly by player too.
    youtube -> no problem
    iplayer -> drops frames after about 30mins
    other flash players (warez, etc) imediatly drop most of the frames.

    but on the whole 64bit flash 10 has made things more bearable.

    What about the security and privacy aspects, these are non-trivial and much easier to solve by just hosting them locally, using an embedded flash player (hell pay google to make it if you want)

    And what exactly is wrong with the iPlayer everybody i know techs & non-techs consider it a storming success?

    Why not cut a deal with google, pay them x per view to disable cookies OR better yet, NOT embed external videos in a proprietary format, when they can host such videos locally and avoid both privacy AND security issues (one 'mistake' at google could rickroll anybody on whitehouse.gov OR a worse one could launch a flash exploit, a change in political winds could also end up with google suggesting anti-obama videos on his own site (like adwords attached to emails)). Somebody from the NSA should have a quick word with the new webdevs.

    Fortunately for you, you don't have to install something from microsoft, you have to install something from an open source project.

    But you do. You have 3 options:
    1) install moonlight from the link then install the microsoft multimedia pack. Thats a no go for me i dont want to replace one proprietary plugin with one and a bit
    2) manually download ffmpeg & moonlight and compile moonlight. A royal PITA that didn't work last time i tried (probably a few Gentoo users sitting laughing at how easy it was fo them though)
    3) Stick with flash. Hell its not nice but its better than 1 or 2 for me.

    Why do you even need guides, even in kubuntu (the stepchild that doesn't get much canonical love) nothing that your average user needs isnt poped up with some GUI installer.

    The fact that its easier and less error prone to talk in commands when you post on the web is just a benifit. And if your going to pick some out of field thing that ubuntu isnt good ad (playing games for example) then you should try googling "how to setup software raid on windows XP" or worse you'll end up just clicking though and installing itunes just to play an AAC.
