  2. There's one more danger... on US Set to Use Spy Satellites on US Citizens · · Score: 1

Yea there is CCTV, but audio is another issue. Yes you may say "satellites can't hear, they're in the vacuum of space", but there is other technology to get past this. There is a technique to use a laser to measure the oscillations of rigid materials. These oscillations can be converted into something that can be heard, thus compromising privacy even more. I have no doubt that this technology will be incorperated, and even progressed upon. It may get to the point (though I'm no acoustical engineer) where it is possible to even convert these oscillations into a type of sonar where you can "see" past walls. This can be giving the government too much power.

  3. Kind of sad on An Older Demographic May Soon Dominate Gaming · · Score: 1

Personally I'm a big PC fan. Seeing consoles with games that have the equivalent difficulty of "whack the mole" (except you're a plumber and you're jumping on mushrooms)is kind of disappointing. No one likes the complex and challenging games such as the Civilization series, or even relatively simple yet challenging games such as Ikaruga (http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=ikaruga). This really shows that the largest demographic consists of people that refuse to challenge themselves. The most successful games seem to have one simple objective and very few ways to accomplish it. Bringing back Mario as an example you have to basically get from point A to B and kill everything in your path by simply jumping or smashing it (though they incorporate a few other things that you may shoot every now an then). There's a reason why very young children can play and win the game. It takes time and careful planning for games such as Civilization IV (so long as you play in the higher difficulties). Sure a simple game game can be fun, but people need to look beyond the psychological reward that an easy game offers and challenge themselves. I know many may argue that a simple game can be challenging, but if you want your kids to develop better thinking skills, try and move them up in both difficulty and complexity.

  4. Still doesn't seem like a big deal on Space Shuttle Secrets Stolen For China · · Score: 1

Am I the only one that sees space travel as a bit over-rated? And also, we don't need to send a manned flight to carry out experiments in space. We can have robots perform the same tasks people can. It's not like transferring fluids for pharmaceutical research in space requires that much dexterity when you can use tubes. Besides it's not like china will spend the billions that can be spent on other research.

We should call it the "We still see absolutely no evidence for the myriad of bullshit that you pay to hear" telescope. Then when the Scientologists try and sue them, we can just change it to the "Just kidding lord Xenu is our homedog and he asked us to build this gamma ray beam to destroy you" 'Telescope'.

  6. I'm not really political but... on Best Presidential Candidate, Republicans · · Score: 0

My dad's friend is a good economist (he's hella rich and he used to be poor so he must be doing something right) and he makes a good point about republican presidents. The economy does its best when we have a democratic congress and senate (check), and a republican president (hopefully check). The whole concept lies behind democrats proposing a bunch of crap, and the president vetoing everything. Basically nothing gets accomplished, thus there is a major decline in pork legislature. With a decline in the corruption of the government, the economy thrives. Personally I don't vote. The candidates that are available on both sides are an offense (they're all cowards and anyone brave will never get voted in), and I don't feel like my vote counts when I hear so many people making judgments on how a candidate looks.

  9. Re:Jetpacks are just a bad idea on The Truth About New Jet Pack Hype · · Score: 1

I completely agree with your statement. Not only is it impractical (not to mention inefficient), but it is taking away funds from much more important aeronautical research. If more money was pumped into the development of synthetic strong materials that are capable of supporting large vacuum pockets, efficient solar panels, and then making them cheap, there could be an ultra light-weight flying device that hardly requires any lift (or could require none in the rare scenario that the material is buoyant), and in turn energy. If this device was fairly large scale, and in mass production, international flights would become cheap enough to be regarded as subway travel. Not to mention that it's countless times better to live next to work than it is to jet pack to it.
