Instead of directly specifying a particular frequency as the "channel number" for a given broadcaster, use frequency hopping. To determine the frequencies, use a PRNG (pseudo-random number generator). Since a PRNG is completely deterministic, the channel number could be specified as the seed of the PRNG. Different seeds would give you a different sequence of frequencies. If two broadcasts happened to interfere at a given moment, with the next hop they probably would move on to different frequencies.
Apparently, if you have 10 applications that each make use of the same DLL, not only will you now have 10 copies of that DLL, but in order to upgrade that DLL (e.g. for a security fix), you'll have to wait for each application's vendor to release its own upgrade package. You would then have a variety of security holes in your set of applications, despite their supposed common use of the same DLL.
And the way most companies work, this upgrade package may also include changes to the application itself instead of being more focused as most here on Slashdot would prefer. The DLL fix may be the "main course", but you'll get a side of new bugs in the app, and possibly an upgrade fee as a cover charge.
Well, for it to be free I had to be a current member of a local fire/rescue department and had it administered at my county's medical section. For the past four+ years, my Friday nights have been spent on duty as an EMT-B, ambulance driver, and now as an EMT-P (paramedic).:)
I did understand what you were saying (regarding legal limits on the actions of first-posters), but thought I might throw in a humorous twist on your words.
I had also thought -- later -- about throwing in some comments about sterilization or castration that is done to wildlife to "humanely" control their population without directly killing the offending animals, and how such techniques were unlikely to make a difference with first-posters due to their presumed lack of any sort of sexual contact.
If you folks want a really light-weight window manager, you should look at 9wm. Decorations? What are those? The same goes for most other sort of processing that's outside of what the apps themselves do. I've seen it used (personally, I like Window Maker) with a simple black background. The focused window has a black border, the other windows have white borders. And that's it.
Here's an idea I had that this product would work nicely with:
Take a digital camera. Add a memory card to act as a buffer. Add Bluetooth.
Take this product, but add a bigger battery and stick it in a backpack. Add a Firewire connection.
Now, when the camera takes a picture, with the memory card acting as a buffer, it quickly transfers the picture to the hard drive. If you take several pictures in succession, they are buffered and sent when feasible.
When you're done for the day, plug it into your laptop or desktop with the Firewire connection and move the pictures off portable hard drive.
I just hit the contribution limit for the year - so the take-home pay is going to my savings account. Oh, and at the start of the year the first thing I did was to drop $2k into my Roth IRA.
They're partially reinventing the wheel. In 1993, a company called Rosen Motors was founded. Their goal: a car with a turbine engine generating power to be distributed to electric motors powering the wheels, and using a flywheel as a battery. No automaker ever bit at that bait, and they closed their doors. Even their website is gone now, and I wonder how much of Rosen Motor's work GM and any of the other automakers is having to do that duplicates the earlier efforts.
(Forget about needing (as my car does) e.g. 92 octane. Gas? OK. Diesel? OK. 80+ mpg on kerosene? OK, too. That would have been cool.)
I would be happy just to see a new version of Mindwalker, one that is as true to the original as possible. That was a really cool game! There are times when I miss my old A1000.
Here's a thought from reading his article.

This has got to be the last gasp of a dying company ...

If I had moderator points, I would have modded you to (+2, Funny). Ah well, such is life.

3) Profit!
Ah well.

Would that have made a difference?
Heck, "First Post" season should be done without a bag limit. Shoot all you want! There's always more ...
A lot of people also get such pains in their ring finger when they enter the local bar or club on a Friday night ...
