  2. frequent travelers dream on German Railways To Get WLAN RailNet · · Score: 1

If you happen to be in Germany take the ICE from Cologne to Frankfurt. The track mostly goes right along the A3-Highway and the new ICE 3 achieve speeds here at 300km per hour (that's about 187 mph).

It's already quite exciting to watch all the BMW and Mercs look like they were parking on the hihgway even if they are going at full speed (remember there is mostly no speed limit).

Now, have a coffee and read /. or even do something useful with your time. I'm waiting for this for years. It's great that "Die Bahn" is finally going to do it.

  3. not surprising at all on China Bans Game Recognizing Taiwan Independence · · Score: 2, Insightful

I work for a publishing house in Germany. Whenever we are going to produce a book with maps, which may include Taiwan, we can not print it in China. The Chinese government insists on Taiwan beeing printed in the same colours and font size as provinces of Mainland China. They take a tough line in order to not erode their position in this conflict.
Now, if one can not produce material like that for export, how can one dare to sell this on the Chinese domestic market?

  5. Re:What do you think of Vincent Jeunejean? on Interview With iMac designer, Jonathan Ive · · Score: 1

no, I thought, actually this iMac design is so damn obvious. Many people must have had a similar idea before. Great designs often are based on a very simple idea, the one which is - after you see the result - the most obvious solution to a problem.

I like Ives (or Jobs) idea of "Each (piece) should be true to itself".
