I remember reading that as i have repeated the story many times. The women on the assembly line could not grasp why you would stick a bolt in upside down. Always being taught to put it in facing down. So if the nut ever came loose the bolt would not come out. Even though as you said the instructions said to put it in upside down.

The reason being the head of the bolt was shorter and would not interfere with a control cable.

Not going to defend this captain. But nearly every cruise ship has what is called the Captains table in the main dinning room. During dinner the Captain is almost never on the bridge. The Captain is at the Captains table acting like he is enjoying dinner with what ever guests happen to be seated at it during that meal.

So engine cowlings are designed to withstand massive internal failures so as to not throw any parts into a the passenger cabin. For that reason i am going to assume (assumption being the mother of all fuck ups) that the cowlings would protect against most handgun rounds. Or at the very least slow them down considerably.

Instead of them being able to turn their life around. We punish them with burger flipping for life. A misdemeanor at least allows them to turn their life around. Felonies used to be reserved for violent crimes. Now its used for amy politicians need to look tough on crime. Because he is to lazy to do what needs to be done.

That we have one of the highest recidivism rates of any country on the planet.

You solve that by getting as little as the receiver to a firearm. Put it in your bags. Declare a firearm when you arrive at the airport ticket counter. Your bag is searched in front of you. Then a lock only you have a key to is put on your bags. Rest assured you will receive the bag as is when you reach your destination. Also a great way to assure your bags actually get to your destination. As bags with declared firearms get special treatment.
