I work for the state. We have "stress breaks". An occasional rubber band zinging by, tossing a football for five minutes, a practical joke, a long lunch, a few quake rounds, a round based game such as civ:ctp, or just having everyone tell a joke. It makes the work much more enjoyable and when we're finished, we're refreshed and more productibe anyhow. Yes, we have nerf guns, but we decided they weren't too good for general play, but they worked great when everyone ganged up on a person that made a stupid remark or asked dumb question.
No matter how fast the emulators get at emulating, native ports will win in a speed contest. This doesn't matter for Deluxe Mahjongg CVVII, but it does for q3, tribes, etc.
What about all of the licenses you have to agree to before you can download sample software. Most of them are just a text field that the web designer left editable. Would it be legally binding if I changed it to say that the company I'm downloading from agrees to pay me $45/hr for demoing their software?
It's right in my help file. It has been publized on the mailing lists. Do you normally enable options that you don't know the consequence of? This is a not a good idea on production servers.
I'm wondering how long it will take before they realize that any form of advertising won't work. The only reason I click on any ads is for pity reasons, such as when I feel bad that a site is going broke.
Actually, I don't see how traditional advertising works either. Coke is the king of sugar beverage ads. I rarely drink it.
Unless a product is new and unknown, I can't see any benefits of advertising.
If they are paying their support people by selling the software, where the heck does that $35 for a dekstop incident or $100+ for a server incident go when they charge me when I call their "support" line?
I used to look for the cheapest books I could find to gather as much knowledge as possible. I then found nearly all of the technical info I needed on the net. It takes some time to get used to reading in a different format, but it's nice once you do. I also don't buy too many magazines since their is an online "community" for everything now-a-days.
What are you doing to your poor mouse? I buy the cheap-o genius net mouse for 15 bucks. they have both lasted for over a year. The only thing I can think of is that you use a gui and never type a single thing during the day.
Honestly though, i love the net mouse and haven't had any problems with it.
gnapster?
gaim?
openssl?
what about the "Scotch" in scotch tape? Isn't honestly a true brand from 3m? Or vise-grips vs locking pliers?
What is allowed and what isn't?
What happens when your bodygets hot or cold? Does this affect the silicon's ability to detect the signal? Will my new eyes not work when I'm at the beach checking on the "secenery"? What happens when I sneeze at the electronic impulses go funky for a split second? Will I accidently flip someone the bird? Do these connections deteriorate over time?
Why are the most basic questions never answerred in these articles? I dislike it when writers treat us as someone who only needs a tiny bit of information. What not tell us as much as possible? Isn't this especially true in electronic publishing? Electrons are going very cheaply these days.

@Home is still blocking 80. Dang it. No biggie though. I redirected the main page elsewhere and then have that page come back in on a different port.
IOW, don't click it.

I see that google is now indexing pdf's. Maybe you can check out what they are using.

Multiple backups, mutliple locations.
Yes, this greatly increases cost. You have to decide how much your data is worth.
We have a local tape backup, a tape that is rotated home with my boss, and another server off-site that all backup the same data.
If an event occurs that wipes out all of these, we have bigger problems that our data.
Maybe the should implement a rubber hose type filesystem.
The site is www.rubberhose.org for the goatse.cx fearing.

I thought the +1 post bonus came in a karma level 26? When did this change?

some "asked slashdot" how to destroy data on a hard drive. I'm guessing this would do it.
You're "out" but an "anonymous coward"?!?!?!?
how fitting!
During my GF's graduation, the Principal made grand statements about freedom, the internet allwoing publishing of all material, and other BS.
Turns out, the senior class President's speech had to be approved 3 times before being allowed.
Education/youth is the test bed for rights being removed. Students are growing up with no rights, so in effect they'll not miss them later.
This probably explains most of the problems I had in school.
A buck 67 is still to much to give to the labels. I'd be happy w/ 10 dollars a month if 95% went to the artists.
Until then opennap it is.
did you just say your boyfriend? Isn't your name shoeBOY?? Are there any weird circumstances here (ie. You're using someone else's account?)

And if I watch myself being kicked, it hurts twice as bad!
Definately explains why I flinch when someone gets kicked in the crotch.
Sorry sir!
Won't happen again! Don't know what could possibly come over me. Must've been that liverwurst last night.
