I start selling $500 USB cables, anyone want one? I'll buy one - just tell me it will it make my 1.1 ports run at 480Mb/s.

I'll also buy one of the $499 UTP cables - I'm sure it will make my 640x320 100Kb/s divx films look great on the 50inch Plasma TV.

And being able to have two batteries in there in place of the CD/DVD-drive slot is just badass. I did the same, but in use the first battery was constantly being used whilst the second was just idle. Eventually the second battery became an overcooked brick. I could have got round this by swapping the batteries between slots now and again, but unless you intend running both batteries down completely between recharge it can end up as a waste of a battery.

Yes, because the brits always use metric measurements for everything. How many stone do you weigh again? No, us Brits use both measurements at the same time. Thats why we always have a slightly confused look on our face. For example we buy litres of petrol (if we can afford it), but measure our usage in gallons, and I'm 5ft 11in but weigh 75Kg and so on.

Without birth records or a child / parents to ask, how do you determine the age of a person in a drawing? Interesting point. I recently had a girlfriend - yes it is possible even for a /.er - she is 27 but is fairly flat chested and only 4ft 9in tall. In photos I have of her she looks early 20's but if I had the ability to draw I guess her age would be very difficult to determine. If it were the case that I made a drawing of her and was raided by the Thought Police (I do live in the UK) would I then have to get her to strip off in court to provide evidence of my innocence?

As a communications engineer I can tell you that the old wired phones used a transformer system to mix the microphone and speaker signals together, and so yes you could hear your own speach through the speaker. The mixing was necessary due to the fact that both signals were required to travel down just 2 wires. If I remember from a simple telephone design scheme still lodged in my brain from years back, there was some phasing arrangement to reduce the amount of signal reaching the speaker - but some still got through.
