  1. Available At Radio Shack on Ten-in-1 Atari Joystick Available · · Score: 1

What timing, I actually came across these at a local Radio Shack when I went to buy a Micro R/C car(aka ZipZaps). I believe the cost was also at $20. The temptation wasn't very much, as the z26 emulator and a full collection of roms is on the handy-dandy laptop.

  2. digital books = DMCA troubles, etc on Iowa College Goes Paperless · · Score: 2, Insightful

Skylarov was the first to be brought up on charges for circumventing the protection for books. Expect more troubles to come if the best source for learning (books!) are primarily on digital media... The move toward highly restrictive licensing instead of outright ownership of information will likely lead to information only being retained by multi-national corporations. Just wait and see, or write your congressmen/senator and stop the loss of your rights.

  3. Thanks ID! on RTCW Single Player Demo & Linux Binaries · · Score: 1

Despite poor sales of their Quake3 linux port, the release of a demo for linux shows the future of commercial gaming on linux platforms is still possible... I recall reading how support for the linux client was a difficult task, I wonder if it will be curtailed for a linux RTCW release?

  4. Slashdotters actually liked this film? on Tron Special Edition On Sale January 15th · · Score: 1

Wasn't this considered one of the biggest bombs Disney produced in the 80's? It was such a dry movie, an early example high budget special effects without a decent story to woo the audience.

Bah, gimme an ugly looking movie with excellent dialog and a plot I can care about.

  5. "confirmed missile launchings in russia" on Y2K Rollover - Post Your Experiences Here! · · Score: 1

anyone see the c-span news briefing (app 5:30est)with an army official making statements about 3 y2k related missile launchings in russia? he proceeded to state that they were not considered "reportable" under criteria set forth in advance, and are not a concern because they traveled no further than 300km from their base. i've tried to find further info on this but have'nt suceeded yet.
