  1. The app on Mozilla Theme Builder Released · · Score: 2
Seems a little light on some of the basics, however all in all I think they have hit a home run with the "marketing" approach. Having reached a higher level of stability with 17 the timing is right to try to get non Mozilla folks to give it a try. Using the easy branding approach is a great way to gain some corporate support. Joe Lan admin could easilly become a hero when he ports the companies browsers to 17 with a custom corporate look and feel with logos etc.

Very good tactic. Hats off to the Mozilla team for creativity in targeting and tracking to a valid marketing strategy rather than relying on just "Mozilla is cool man, It's open source."

CorelDraw 9 let us not forget is only a Beta. It still has a way to go. Expecting the .2 release to be full blow like photoshop is just silly. Expecting the full vector editing package to be in the beta is even sillier.

That said, I think this is still pretty sweet. They have the right focus and direction now, as opposed to 18 months ago and having the photopaint piece available for free is the right approach for the audience that will be using it. Especially the Macromedia Flash support. No one has been able to do this cleanly yet, hopefully Corel will get it right. When the vector engine is final hopes are that the high end color management features will be as rich as they were on the previous releases for the Win environments.

You're close, but a little off the mark. Not primarily MP3's but for use in Tivo style devices and DVD replacements or portables. Having magnetic storage this small reduces heat, meaning power and with less power devices become portable. I was involved with some of this back with SATCOM a few years ago. Nothing quite this evolved but one project, the 19NP-Orb series had some potential but were simply too large and the general consencus was to not mess with a good thing until technology caught up with science. In the end, devices like the 19NP-Orbs are entertaining to watch as they develop, but in reality not many of us will ever get a fully public opportunity to touch and manipulate the product. Only a select few for the perverse reasons of wanting a press release or some other such valueless reason. Too bad devices like this available to the public could do great things for exposing new technology.
