    this might sound like a stupid question, but im a newbie at running a dns server

    i run my own dns server for my lan only(@homes dns servers frequently stop working for me) and id kinda like to set it up so that i can resolve these tld's with it. if someone wants to reply or email me (nastard@spam.home.com) with some info, id really appreciate it

    If youve noticed, most online companies have allready figured this one out. were just too dumb to notice and follow.

    iMac.com != mac.com
    eToys.com != toys.com
    eGrits.com != grits.com

    just append a letter to the front of the domain

    i = internet
    e = ecommerce site

    im too lazy to think of any more. but i do think it may be a step in the right direction until a better (read: permanant) solution is found

    i think ill go register eNastard.com

    Timex is an opensource watch that was originally designed by Linex Torvalds to be a MINEX-like watch. Linex got together a loosely-knit group of watchmakers around the net to work on his new project.

    Today, Timex is a fully functional, POSEX complient UNEX-like Watch, with its all the features you would expect in a modern watch.

    Many users are even moving over from MicroWatch watches.

    there was a cnn article a while back about canada doing something with pure fibre. they were able to get the entire contents of the library of congress from one end of canada to the other in less than 1sec using fibre with 8coours of light, and said they were working on improving it to use 2,000 colours of light for a supposed bandwidth of 2-3 Tbps. this is probably old news to most of us, but there is a point here(someplace).

    all of the "Superfast Unobtainable Internet Connections(TM)" are just that; unobtainable.

    most of us are still on 56k, and some on 33.6 or worse.

    even with cable and dsl well into the public allready, this technology is worthless to us unless we have a super-beowolf cluster doing DNA research as an excuse to get it.

    ill be happy when i @home removes that 128kilobit cap on my upstream.
