is really just a novelty item as far as I'm concerned. I use it to browse the web at some times, but I don't do anything with it.
I agree with the person who said the keyboard is small and difficult to use for some adults. I can use it, but I know I won't be typing very fast with it. Which might be why I'm not expecting a keyboard problem. I hardly type on it at all.
But heck, I just hope that the project is at least achieving some good, if nothing else, by being a proving ground for what problems can show up.
It does seem to attract people's attentions. Having a regular laptop out...nobody says anything. The XO? People ask me about it a lot. I wish I could be more enthusiastic about it, but I just don't know how much good it's doing. Oh well, not like I've been in a third world country to see.
Is not that Amazon is cutting off the POD publishers. The problem is they have their own vendor for this service, which means, given the gigantic size of the Amazon.com market, they're putting pressure on folks to use their services.
Big trouble there.
I'm not quite willing to say that what they do adds up to a murder, I'm not some golem that can stand to compute that sort of thing, but it is despicable. It's little bits of evil that end up hurting the world.
Just tell me that there needs to be a penalty for when companies file absurd patents in the name of greed.
I say we strip IBM of a random 1% of its patents.
This will discourage them from being stupid.
Fortunately, being an annoying pest is not a criminal offense at this time.
I say fortunately, because otherwise half of Slashdot would end up in jail over it if it were.
Zombie Memory attacks! Seriously, for most people this is a non-concern. The effort required to develop an attack this way is comparable to your average IMF mission. I suppose it might conceivably be an issue for those in high-security environments, like those who use NSA linux, but damn if anybody else really needs to worry about it.
I thought you had to be retired to live there, and the only reason they kept the colleges around was to give folks something to watch on TV in the afternoon. Oh, and sell license plates.
But you're telling me they actually try to educate children in the state?
I don't believe it.
I think they're funny and cute. Much better than the keychains and coffee mugs one usually gets.
It's also tedious and boring, but then, I expect that from all marketing efforts. And it's not like one can expect a game about the average booth babe who is hired solely to recite a speak while wearing a skimpy outfit.
We need a Congressional hearing plain and simple. The US Congress doesn't have to worry about standing, it's their job to be concerned about the business of the gov't.
Too bad they're so lazy.
I've played other editions of AD&D, I still have my books, and I've read the material that Wizards has produced describing the new edition.
And I feel they've finally learned how to make it a game for all people, not just a slap-together piece.
Let's face it, in comparison to spell-casters, melee types ha limited abilities. Feats changed some of that, but they're a bit limited too. Heck, how many abilities are limited to arbitrary restrictions on usage.
The new system? Much better. At-will abilities, versus once per battle, or even once per day....works for me.
I don't know how it'll all look once it's together, but conceptually, I can't object to the new edition. I think they had their heads on straight when designing it, and that they finally learned something.
Now business-wise, I can't object to them putting out a new edition either. It's actually less objectionable to me than putting out mini-books and expansions. And while I'd like them to go over some of the old campaigns (Birthright I miss you!!!! A LOT!), I can't object to them sticking to the Realms and Eberron for a while. I do like Eberron, and the Realms has a place in my heart too.
Because Tesla had them, and I bet he's not afraid to use them. Who needs lawyers when you can just melt people?

It's time for the Texaco Star theater! With Milton Berle!

because I sure do it a lot....oh wait, no, I just suck.

They could just install a copy of Linux. Far less heartache.

To play the next version of Half-life?

How do you know a single thing I've ever done from a single comment on Slashdot? Seems a bit quick to judge there.
