    Whatever. I had to explain disk images to a fucking Ivy League professor (a young one, not some doddering 80-year-old). People are fucking stupid. Especially Christians.

    Was that before or after he told you how much money he makes, how he gets a year off after 6 years of work, and the awesome retirement plan? Not to mention the fact that he's paid to do jack-all.

    I suppose I'd rather be uninformed (not stupid, as you imply) and on easy street, than whining about people like that on slashdot.

    What do you mean, not standardized? If I buy a UK keyboard, it's standardized across the UK. If I buy a US keyboard, it is standardized as well... Sure, the enter key, pgup/down differ, but the QWERTY layout is the same.

    Perhaps you're making this more difficult that it actually is...

    Wrong! Those are legitimate linux users voicing their opinion on for-profit software.
    Or windows users extolling the virtues of a backwards compatible system.
    Or OSX users telling everyone that it just works.

    The only trolls we have here are Haiku fanboys that feel underappreciated.

    Windows users love to accuse Mac and Linux users of fanaticism

    Almost as much as mac users love to claim that windows sucks and everyone should use a mac, while Linux users continue to claim that their workstation does everything a windows box does and more, for free.

    Actually there is no evidence that there was ever any land animals whatsoever in NZ except for lizards, insects and spiders. Unless you count flightless birds.

    So, aside from the sheep-eating lizards, poisonous insects, deadly spiders, and territorial (and vicious) birds... you'd be perfectly safe.

    So the context is very different. The ITU wasn't wearing running shoes, but it at least put its walking boots on every time the industry called. The IEEE, on the other hand, seems to be content to prance around in very uncomfortable 3" high heels.

    Perhaps you could draw on the automotive sector for an analogy?

    Are you a 14 year old girl? I should hope that by now, you've learned that you don't have to have drama in your life. If the friendship goes sour and you can't stand to be in the same building as them, then either a) You're an idiot, or b) they are.

    I would expect that if you're moving to a new city to take a job, then your job should be interesting enough that you would find people with common interests at your common place of work. If not, why did you move to a new city to take a job you hate? If it's for the money, you could make a lot more cash selling crack on the corner, which you're obviously not doing - and so it clearly isn't entirely for the money, either. Obviously you have some level of enjoyment in your job, or you'd find something that pays more. Just because the newspapers say we're in a recession doesn't mean that you can't get work - it just means that the greedy, overpaid idiots who got $50/hour to put metal in a CNC machine can't find work.

    Yeah, you state the the null hypothesis is invalid, thus you accept the alternate hypothesis. Following that, you proceed to explain why you do not accept the alternative hypothesis. When this is pointed out, you proceed to tell the world that you're really just a poor misunderstood tech guy, and not only are you really smart, but you're also rather nice.

    Or did I miss something? Because I'm not saying your argument is unclear, I'm saying it's contradictory. I'm now saying that you can't counter my refutation without something more than "No, YOU'RE wrong, not ME".

    That's not entirely true. You *can* .. but it doesn't hold much weight. Now seriously, grow a brain or gtfo.
