I don't know about the other services, but the Princeton one was actually visible from the outside. If you do a Google search for "wake.princeton.edu", you can still see it in their cache.

  2. Eazel HI Design on Latest Eazel Screenshots · · Score: 1
Thought it might be relevant to know that Eazel has recently hired Arlo Rose (see http://www.workthatmouse.com), a former lead in Apple's HI department (he designed the platinum/Mac OS 8 interface among other things). He also did some work on Eudora 4 and is involved with Kaleidoscope, which is an Englightenment-like enhancement for the Mac. In any case, it means that the future of the Linux user friendliness is in (theoretically) capable hands.

Actually, there was a speed bump recently, and $1600 will now buy you a 350 Mhz G3.

  4. QT Source on Apple Opening QuickTime Code · · Score: 1

From what I understand, QuickTime (the player part) is very tied in with the Mac OS API (proven by the fact that a large part of the toolbox was ported to Windows for that version of QT3.0). So if Apple releases this portion of QT (even without the codecs) it could be a significant chunk of code.

  5. HFS+ Issues on LinuxPPC Live 4.0 · · Score: 1

I'm not sure if there is an utility to convert HFS+ disks back to HFS (I know PlusMaker lets you go the other way, but the site doesn't mention HFS+ -> HFS). However, when you erase a disk you have the choice of the format. If you don't have a program that lets you partition non-destructively, then you just have to back up, and then repartition.
