Shouldn't you be angry with your own government about the taxes you pay instead of being mad at the US? We pay on average around 8.5% tax on fuel vs 177% in the UK and somehow we are still to blame?
It would seem that almost anybody wanting to get away with a real crime could store the data on any number of free or private websites, upload it from abroad, and then just download from an open wifi once back in the states. This seems like a great way to catch the untechnically inclined or stupid criminals within our population but thats about it. I don't see the fucking we're getting being worth the fucking we're getting...
I agree with your reasoning. I also hate IM for tracibility sake and archiving purposes. IM logging or archiving is ridiculous when you have 50+ contacts to sort through over a long period of time. Its great for a short contact that would have taken place over the phone in the past but for anything relating to the business its unprofessional.
Maybe the tax will be not on the actual IP but on the download "service".
As a consumer, buying online provides us with a great discount on pricey items but I could understand a lobby from brick and mortar retailers that want to be on an equal playing field.
Have you ever noticed how these taxes are always proposed by the same people that let you know "how bad you're hurting" during difficult times.

I think this has more to do with the break from EMI than them warming up to iTunes or the DRM issues.

Most grading systems are done on the computer. I'm sure a change here and a change there could greatly improve his popularity.
