    Only if your OS doesn't do proper sandboxing and memory protection. If a bug in your browser couldn't result in your OS getting hacked, or a bug in steam didn't mean you got a boot virus- wouldn't that be nice?

    Too big to fail. I believe this means too big to live. If corporations above a certain size are a threat to the USA then don't allow them to get that big. Set a maximum limit on corporate size to be allowed to do business in the USA.

    In my mind, deregulation means "You are on your own!". As in, don't expect a bailout if you lose all your money. I think it's disgusting they choose to adopt Government bailouts of industry from Communism instead of universal health care.

    The government hides their dirty laundry when they are afraid you might find out. People hold back when they are afraid of getting caught. Now they are not afraid of you, so it doesn't matter if they get caught.

    Enemy Combatant is a legal fiction by the government of the USA, whereby people are declared to not be people, and therefore don't get their inalienable human rights. In reality there are only two groups of people: Military and Civilian. All Civilians get legal due process (for that country), and the Military are "Marked" (uniforms and ID) so you know who they are.

    This is the reason that most major medical research is done by government grant (historically). Big pharma companies like to tell everyone they are the solution but really they are only the endpoint in the process.

    Trades are the way to go, get your kids into them. Framers, plumbers, electricians, welders- these trades have plenty of good paying jobs and you can't offshore these jobs. Avoid telecommuting jobs like the plague, as if you can do the job from home so can some guy in India making 10% your wage.

    If the United Nations had a military it would quickly transform into a world government. Given human nature this world government would take more and more, until it ruled the entire world completely. If we tweak the UN governing before that happens then we could have a benevolent dictatorship.

    Russia is good at engineering, when they care. Given that the NSA has been actively working to spy on everyone everywhere I think we can assume there are back doors inserted into all major CPU architectures- so they have reason to care.

    A slow collapse will mean the American military won't be able to afford parts for their weapons. A quick collapse will lead to a change in government that will lead to protectionism and military adventurism.

    When (not if) the world stops using the USA dollar as a reserve currency and for trading oil, a very large pile of American dollars is going to flood home and devalue to the level of the Mexican peso. On the bright side, the drop will make American exports much cheaper.

    I think the manned rocket China uses counts as a manned space vehicle, though I don't know if they have one of their disposable rockets currently constructed awaiting launch (in existence).

    There is nothing preventing the USA from doing large scale engineering projects, you just need to import a large group of foreign educated scientists and engineers to plan and run the whole project (again).

    The Department of Defense is supposed to control them. This means that the Department of Defense (that answers to the president of the USA) doesn't object to anything they are doing (since they are required to know what the NSA is doing, ignorance is no excuse). This means the President of the USA approves everything the NSA is doing.

    If someone could prove that the NSA has the data, then refusing an official request would be- um, well I don't know but I'm sure it's something. I suppose the congress could summon the head of the NSA to testify before congress and tell them if they have the emails. Lying to congress is illegal and they put you in jail for that, so the NSA would have to tell everything, right?

    Some of the things Monsanto (and others) have done look very bad to the general public. When a large multi-national company appears to be trying to force their produce down your throat you tend to suspect what they are doing is bad. Some simple changes would help: 1-mandatory labeling of all GMO (and drugs), 2- treat GMO as a new crop, not as a minor variant of an existing one that doesn't require testing for safety.
