Please use the new one for one week, then try reverting to the old one;)
More seriously, GTK file dialog has always been click-intensive if you want to go higher the filesystem (and focus-input-clear-selection-type-slash-tab-and-use -completion is not an option for most users;)
portage doesn't re-emerge all the packages automatically though it does provide tools to help you fix it after you've broken it. Once they finish the reverse dependency which has been in the works for awhile this problem goes away.
I don't want to be OT here, but if you ask me what is the greatest danger right now for the planet, I certainly would not answer "destruction by an asteroid".
OTOH, the various side-effects linked to e.g. heavy pollution (courtesy from all of us but mostly from some countries *cough* usa *cough*) are quite damaging right here, right now.
Would it be possible to try and use this tech to build some distributed devices to resolve our immediate problems before focusing on asteroids ??
Sorry for the rant...

Obviously the only answer for companies stuck with M$, move to XP
No. Windows 2000 is NT 5.0, XP is 5.1 and Server 2003 is 5.2. Notice the minor version bump which indicates that all these releases share a lot a code.
It is reasonable to think they want to have users switch to Longhorn (does anybody know if it will be NT 5.3 or 6.O ?), but then the leak occured too soon, for they're not ready yet.
The main prejudice may be caused by nastier side-effects such as a grep and analyse on all source code comments.
Imagine the impact, if, say, the following comment is found in the IE PNG rendering engine:
// don't know what this struct member does, // maybe transparency ?? too lazy to lookup // docs, leave as is for now
This would be a hard time for PR given their current objectives... and I don't even think about security-related comments;)
(Disclaimer: this example is FICTIOUS. I do not have access to the code in any way. If such a comment is found, I hereby promise to imediately cease and desist watching Deadzone.)
Would you mind giving me an idea of how much "taking responsibility" for an "oopsie" would cost, roughly, in dollars and/or PR deficit, for channels like CBS ?:)
Afterwards, would you like to elaborate further about the choice the channels still have under these conditions ?
(If I run while/bin/true; do wget sco.com & done; that's MY fault. How is MyDoom any different*?)
Wow. And me trying to find a good analogy about this in recent discussions. Thank you, my friend:)
IMHO the difference is that you chose to _type_ the shell script on the command line then _press return_, whereas our lambda windows user merely _double-clicked_ an icon, which predictably prevents him from being sent directly to/dev/justice.
* Disclaimer :/dev/justice is broken on many implementations anyway.
But you'd think if Microsoft would go so far as to copy the code they'd be smart enough to copy the patch, too, instead of sitting on it for six months
You don't need to be that smart to copy someone else's code, and that may be the problem.
AFAIK Janet Jackson's nipple has been used as an excuse in the US to enforce a 5 minute delay loop on awards shows in the future. This effectively kills the live in "live" and is newsworthy IMHO.
Therefore I wouldn't mind the media reporting about both a major computer flaw _and_ JJ's nipple.
Hi. Having seen your post moderated +4 Informative, I have lost all faith in humankind and just relinquished my ability to moderate this thread, you insensitive clod!
I was unaware that giving birth to Jar-Jar Binks was considered as a "life achievement"...
Then again, everything depends on what you mean by "achievement".
George Lucas is releasing the Star Wars DVD box set early on September 21, 2004 due to piracy concerns.
Hi,
/etc/ntlmaps/server.cfg |grep User-Agent
:
/etc/ntlmaps/server.cfg
[den_erpel@scorpius den_erpel]$ cat
Note that you can do without 'cat' in your case
$ grep User-Agent
My 2 cents.
Glad to see one more who opposes the button order change. Maybe we should start a mailing list ;)
Please use the new one for one week, then try reverting to the old one ;)

You're right, ADA was probably one of the greatest languages of its time (and still is ;)
;)
Constructs like "task A requires B" are quite powerful indeed... too bad the only platforms this language is used for are missiles
This release should clear the most litigious point against GTK+ : the file dialog.
Recent screenshots on gnomedesktop.org seem to prove they did the job right.
However, anyone knows if the WIN32 is far behind or up to date with this release ?
Funny, that's exactly what teachers were saying about ADA in my time... ;)
Hmmm just a thought, but the DOS counter-attack would be issued only from the original target's subnet, so it does make it easier to block...
However, it sure looks like a really bad idea. Someone is getting overpaid out there...
You still can have the law removed or an amendment passed, maybe some exception for Free Software ?
Cheer up, everything is not lost yet.
I beg of you, how do you bail out more "gracefully" than this ?
;)
Most of the PHP code I've seen use "die('ouch');" to handle such conditions... at least they got some originality here...

revdep-rebuild [-p] is your friend.
Also note that existing gentoo users only need to "emerge -[D]u world" to upgrade to the 2004 release.
After all, one volcano disperses more pollutants like CFC into the air than the sum of all the industries on Earth in all of history...
:)
:)
Well, I stand corrected, I didn't know about this, thanks for your informative answer
(Maybe we can stop volcanos from erupting in a distributed way... errr no, biff that one

The irony here is that Firebird probably works on VDs only because it _only_ uses _documented_ WIN32 APIs.
:)
When you expose things to the outside, you have to make them work. Not so for the inside hacks. Too bad
Because they forced IE to integrate into the shell.
/bin/bash forever.
Why the hell does this shell require a kernel patch?
Yes indeed. Actually, if they did implement the workaround as initially designed, IE users will be unable to navigate such links when using SSL.
;)
Of course, Moz/Fb/Opera will continue to operate as usual
As an aside, there are many other fixes in this update that may be "hidden" under this obvious one... time to RTFA again at subsonic speed.
