Ah, but the fights over actual data get played out all the time. The results from those fights are almost predictable.
So the next fight must be over the metadata, the data describing the data. Especially considering how many times the metafight over the fight for ownership of the data has already been played.
Its like playing chess against a child versus playing chess against a grandmaster.
Of course you are going to play much harder against the kid. Loosing to the kid would be so much more embarrassing.
If this technology could be applied to counting and characterizing forum yelling, we could measure how little we really have to say in so many words on other internet venues as well.
There's always the satellite phone option. Yes it is a bit pricey, but it should be a very reliable option given the terrain, etc that make such a mountainous country a less than ideal place for a cellular or traditional radio solution.
I just can't wait for nanotube mellowed bourbon, when lifestyle technology gathers a whole new meaning. So long as nanotube condoms stay off the market...
Too bad the sidekick is probably still going to be locked into that awful Danger hell. Still I might try the NetBSD version to see what hacks can be done. The sidekick has a nice keyboard for a command line.
Then there's filling that screen with the greatest UI for that form factor.

This is going to be great fun or horribly underwhelming.
I'm waiting for Apple to try taking someone to court for using iTunes to in someway contribute to a nuclear, biological, or chemical weapon.
Do the people running weapons simulations have "We'll meet again" playing while they do their thing?
Vista service pack 2 seems a rather apt way to describe windows 7. I seem to think rather vista may be a late alpha or early beta or Windows 7 (its not like the number actually has a real sequential meaning).
Every now and then someone gets a refund by not agreeing to the EULA, but its a rare enough occurrence that you generally find out about the refund by reading the news.
What would mandates inclusions to an EULA do to the GPL or BSD licenses. If some sort of admission of some level of liability for defects in the product are mandate, would free software projects at least on the face have to be handled officially at least as private betas?
I could see some big corporate money contributing to legislation on EULAs for "consumer protection."
Damn there goes my hopes of using atom scale holograms anytime soon for storage. At least with my limited PC architecture.
Guess my computer's going to be stuck folding proteins for quite a while.
I remember my first computer (sometime around 2000ish). Macintosh Classic. Then I upgraded to a compaq laptop with a 386 and DOS with DOS shell.
Got more looks when I brought it into class one day than any of the computer that could play more demanding games than Zork did (note: I did remember to remove the DOS shell from autoexec.bat before bringing it in).
Well, there is always the possibility for graduate study. I would recommend taking the liberal arts school and pursuing a graduate program at a large technical school. Preferably one with sweet assistantships in the field.
Going to a small liberal arts school that graduates five or less CS graduates a year, I have seen that work placement for a lot of my classmates who chose the CS program has been very good. Additionally placement at graduate programs in computer science after four years at my liberals school is similarly good. In fact many of the CS graduates have more opportunities than the liberal arts majors at the liberal arts school.
You have to dig through the site a bit, but its on the VAIO support site. The VAIO update is the fastest way to find the site, but they don't make it easy to find the disks.
I too recently purchased a VAIO, and as of last month they do indeed offer physical restore media. At least on the CR series. It will set you back about $12, but we can always hope safe mode starts. Removing power usually does the trick.
I don't know if this is a good omen. My journal post about service pack one made the front page, and I'm planning to put it on my system tomorrow. I'm probably going to look like the world's biggest fecal outlet if it corrupt my system tomorrow and I forget to backup. Then again my plan to back up is just rar'ing my documents and splitting it across several DVD's. I guess I'm going to have to pick up DVD's today.
eHow I plan to do the install

I'd be tempted to do a lot of things, but I'm not sure signing a bunch of employment waivers would top that list.

Dos was still good enough for typing high school papers in 2000. At $20 it was a veritable bargain on a dish washing budget.

Wasn't there a piece on Slashdot last year about a malware author including an EULA...

Wait Microsoft intentionally made an annoying feature insufficiently annoying to prevent greater annoyance? A hole's a hole.

If your language is English the service pack for Ultimate edition should be "done," but for 31 languages it is planned for sometime around August.
