I think what NVIDIA did was realize that we don't need an extra 50 frames per second in quake 3 when you're already getting 150. people don't realize that neither our monitors nor our eyes can take advantage of that. The only think left to improve is picture quality. wich means higher resolutions and more extra effects.

The problem with cell phones is that people are holding them AND having a conversation. Think about it:

just compare that to holding a cigarette or holding your french fries

You are ONLY holding those, you still aren't trying to talk, hold on to the phone, and drive at the same time.

it's no different from talking to a passenger

you also aren't holding anything extra, you're driving. Doing 2 things at once insn't the problem, its just three (or more). I know people who use their blackberries while driving. I'm staying out of thier cars from now on...having to drive, hold, type, and think about what you're saying....eep

Netrek had a similar problem with this untill they integreted RSA into the clients. basically if you wanted to play on one the servers with it enabled you had to play with one of the pre-compiled binaries with RSA built in(called blessed clients). if the server didn't force RSA authentication, then you could compile and play with your own clients and use cheats (these were called borg clients).

It didn't take long before almost all non-practice servers were using this RSA authentication.
