    How is that a bad thing? Computers will come with a BSD or GNU/Linux system installed on the HD. If the Deutsch want their precious Winblowz apps, software developers will contribute to Wine.

    While we're on that topic, why not have your grandma, your toddler, or your cat click the "agree" button? That's the fatal flaw of shrink- and click-wrap license agreements. This would also help the Wine project, as it allows legal reversing of Windows.

    Maybe that is why Microsoft is insisting that companies does not include a seperate Windows CD and just use the "recovery" CD to reinstall the WinBlows Image.

    According to the story, the "Windows recovery" CDs probably just unzip a Windows folder straight from the CD and leave the rest of the HD alone.

    BTW: I always hated the CDs that don't allow you to install the products without wiping the entire system.

    BSD has much longer average uptimes than Linux

    Only because BSD systems are often dedicated workstations or servers. GNU/Linux has a higher fraction of users who dual-boot because they can't afford vmware to run their precious Windows games.

    In Mac OS 1.x to 7.x, "Eject Disk" ejects the disk from the drive but leaves it mounted (and shaded light gray instead of white). And the OS can ask for it back at any time, confusing users to high hell. Apple fixed it (thank Gosh!) in 8.0.

    The Atari 2600 console had only 128 bytes of RAM and extremely simplistic graphics hardware; it pretty much had to generate each pixel in software as it was being drawn to the screen. There were only six objects (two sprites, three squares, and a horizontal strip of background) that could not be told to "draw at (x, y)" like on the Nintendo but instead to "draw at the current electron beam position."

    Works in good old 8.x too.
