  1. Re:Over-reliance on tech on America's Robot Army · · Score: 1

Thinking in "James Bond" film mode for a moment, what happens IF some enemy lets off an EM pulse, what happens to your (over) reliance on technology? We unleash the ultimate organic force on this planet. A search and destroy team comprised of Chuck Norris, Steven Segal and Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Ought to be enough for anybody

  3. Re:For sending too much email? on Spam King Pleads Guilty in Seattle · · Score: 2, Funny

ID theft and tax evasion are the real charges here.

The "real charges" are based on which charges are politically most popular and Spam is charge that raises the most ire.

Actually mention proportions. Clever little summary, it was as if one million slashdot readers suddenly cried out in indignation... "I have to read the article? Nooo"

  6. Re:Not as evil as you would hope on Microsoft Developing News Sorting Based On Political Bias · · Score: 1

Yeah, my point is, I can set up "white power rapists who like to microwave cats" aggregate RSS feed no problems. There isn't anything inherently wrong with trying to come up with algorithms that categorize news/people. Its all progress. Perhaps one day, thanks to Microsoft, I will be able to get my white power news not from RSS but from a more effective technology.

  7. Re:omg wiii! on WiiWare Week Round Up · · Score: 2, Funny

Its way better to play with your own Wii. A much more ecstatic sense of achievement at the end of a game.

  8. Not as evil as you would hope on Microsoft Developing News Sorting Based On Political Bias · · Score: 1

This wouldn't be questioned if it were not Microsoft doing it. Matching content to constituency is something being researched in many areas.

  10. Hey! What about us? on $5 Per Month Fee Proposed For Legal Music P2P · · Score: 1

  13. Re:The ravages of online piracy on MPAA Touts Record Year For Hollywood · · Score: 1

I was more talking about the sheer effect on profit. The notion that any damage to profits is irrelevant/non existent if a profit exists.

  14. The ravages of online piracy on MPAA Touts Record Year For Hollywood · · Score: 1, Flamebait

What ever happened to the ravages of online piracy?"

Yeah I agree. Stores make profit - Whatever happened to shoplifting. It must have no effect!

At that stage - neither, I'd have chosen the cassette player :)

  17. Crippleware on Tenth Anniversary of First Commercial MP3 Player · · Score: 2, Interesting

$250 to carry around half an album. Genius! You really had to be a gimmick fan to be an early adopter for mp3 players.

  18. Damn on Ericsson Predicts Swift End For Wi-Fi Hotspots · · Score: 0

How am I going to stalk online without fear of repercussion?

  19. No XP? on NVIDIA Performance On Linux, Solaris, & Vista · · Score: 2, Insightful

If you're a quattro user, your OS choice would surely be on software available for whatever particular professional application you are using the card for. As a sound designer, that would be for me, XP. I don't think many professionals are ready to jump to vista quite yet so I'm surprised that they have not included it. We are, after all, looking for stability.
