    There is no evidence in the story that suggests that Microsoft logs messenger conversions. For all you know the chat logs most likely came from the PC's of the persons involved in the case.

    But, if I profited just one penny on each copy, then I would be in violation.

    So, say you had a shop, and one night I came in and stole your inventory. If I give away your inventory for free, I'm ok, no harm done. However, if I sold your inventory for even just a penny, then I should be guilty??

    I'm pretty sure there's some clause in the first amendment that would prohibit such a limitation. Maybe that clause which does something like.... "or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press" ... I mean, you'd like to think that the constitution really means something, I guess.

    I just don't know why you think the public can't unite to create lobbying organizations. The public has been uniting to do that very thing since 1944.     I'm not exactly sure what that means. Were Republicans supposed to be programmed like some sort of robots that follow McCain's orders? Conservative Republicans were never going to vote for a bailout bill. The Democrats are just going to have to buck up and act like the majority party they are.

    You forgot about the 1/3 of Democrats who voted against the bailout bill. Some help they were.... Democrats have the majority in Congress anyways. Why did they need Republicans to get a bill passed in the first place? They never need Republicans to pass a bill. Republicans could go converse off in a corner someplace for all Democrats care.

    I think we'd be in a MUCH different situation with either Gore or McCain - that's before McCain was taken over by that pod person that's occupying his body now.

    No, if McCain would have won the nomination in 2000, people would have been reacting to McCain the same way as they are now, only it would have been 8 years earlier. Liberals didn't hate McCain in 2000 only because they didn't have to run against him. Now they do. Life is tough. sorry.

    Well, since my company bought the damn program for creating PDFs, I think if they are going to make ad revenue off of our drawings (CAD), I think we should be reimbursed for the software. (Fat chance, I know.)

    Your company is going to be hosting their CAD drawings in PDF on Adobe's servers? Wow, that's impressive. Besides, the deal is that ad revenue is shared, but I admire your company for creating cad drawing based on ad revenue.

    Apparently 3d/CG hobbyists either rent, live with their parents perpetually, or just happen to have plenty of cash to buy a nice home outright. Either way, who's ever heard of a 3d/CG hobbyist being interested in buying a house and actually needing a mortgage for it.

    seamless handoff taking one minute??? may be they should explain a little bit more about what will happen during that one minute if we are on a call with someone at that moment?

    You remain on the cell network for a minute longer then expected. That's all. But since they charge you against the cell phone minutes to go from cell -> wifi after the handoff the extra cellphone minute you use up is insignificant at this point.

    Anyone ever been thru the account cancellation maze with them?

    Actually, just yesterday. It took 2 phones calls over 2 evenings to convince them that if I tranferred my number 3 weeks ago I really did have no service anymore for them to bill me for. I didn't have any problems with Vonage before that, but after the experience of convincing them to stop billing me for service I didn't have anymore, I'd never use them again.

    Um, no. I'm pretty sure that the state senate is controlled by Democrats, and also the governor is a Democrat.

    I see clearly now. Thanks for enlightening me. We are just too humble and tolerant. If we could just get people to be a little more arrogant and repressive around here we would have less enemies to deal with.

    I don't think they would be able to disable the DVR functionality without a significant update.

    If the court orders them to disable functionality, what makes you think that the court would allow them to skip disabling that functionality on boxes that have autoupdate disabled. It just doesn't make sense. Everyone would just disable autoupdate feature and life would go on. Echostar may as well not disable any functionality at all.

    In the settings of my DVR there is a menu that lets you disable automatic downloaded updates, I plan on setting it to that tonight. YIKES!!

    I really doubt in this case that would make a difference.

    The banks really need to get together and figure out a secure, standardized, open protocol for sending authenticated emails.

    It's already been done. They just need to sign up as GoodMail clients and they are all set.
