I substituted an an Intel X-25M G2 80g SSD for a 10k RPM Raptor as my main OS drive. It cost me exactly $244.10 at the time and was easily the best performance/$ upgrade I've ever done.
Transmitting a message encoded with a proprietary codec could be considered an inducement to buy the products that contain the codec IC (from what I've read, the only way of decoding these messages) and may therefore be considered a de facto commercial message.

WebOS is already far beyond Apple in software. The hardware part shouldn't be too hard with the latest generation of SOCs hitting the market.
Maybe they should ditch color support entirely, that might help simplify things.
