Assuming that slashdotters would like to add their support in a mail-in campaign, to whom should we send our letters? Would it be best to send it to the Personal Technology Freedom Consortium, to Boucher directly, or to our own senators and representatives?
What do other slashdotters think would be the most effective action?
For what it's worth, a Microsoft-made antivirus scanner might be a worthwhile tool.
Since no one but Microsoft has a clear view of what's "under the hood", so to speak, it would probably be much easier for them to generate a more reliable set of heuristics for identifying new virii before the definitions are available.
Your assertion about RAID-1 is not precisely true. If the RAID controller is designed well, and the driver supports it, you can get almost the same read speed enhancement of RAID-0.
Example: two SATA drives RAID-0: Write Speed: 2x, Read Speed: 2x RAID-1: Write Speed: 1x, Read Speed: 2x
Basically, when doing a write, the driver can use the same buffer and stream the write data to both drives synchronously meaning no slowdown. A proper read driver will read alternate chunks simultaneously from the two drives, resulting in a 2x speed improvement on the whole.
The obvious downside to the Mirroring setup is that you only have half of your total space available for use.
Something interesting to consider: a large number of video games use shift as a temporary run or walk command (depending on the current default speed). CAPS LOCK is used in most of these games as a means to toggle the default back and forth over time. For example, many games have default to "always run", but it may be useful when passing across a very narrow passage over a pit of something nasty or lethal to toggle your movement speed to walking.
And please, let's not have any trolls about never using the "walk" for games. There are plenty of games where running all the time will alert enemies where walking can allow you to slip by or surprise them.

Can anyone post a link to the text of the Bill itself? It might be prudent to examine the letter of the law before pre-judging its merits and faults.

Correcting my own post: I incorrectly used the term "synchronously" when I meant "simultaneously".

I'm fairly certain if you look through the source, you could find out enough to write your own game.

I think there's something inherently wrong with games that imply that taking over the world is a bad thing and must be stopped at all costs.
I feel, that if the right individual successfully conquered the world, we would enter into a new era of peace and prosperity.
