4-500hp is a really nice spot for a car. 300 isn't bad by any means (I paid $13,500). Grats on the Tesla, it's my dream car too. If I could afford a Tesla, I would have it in an instant. What do you do, and how do you do it?
I just have a nice cheap '00 Firebird Formula. With a small amount of $ (about 4k) in handling/brakes, and stage 1 weight reduction (removal of spare tire/jack)
I COMPLETELY AGREE on e- for vehicles. An e- car w/ 1/2 that performance (acceleration wise) would be an amazing car to drive, and suit most people just fine.
I can't drive a weinie car though, I have been a speed/handling addict since I was 13 and drove my 1st motorcycle. My wife has a civic HX that gets 34-40 mpg (non-hybrid w/cvt). We use it if we are going around town and what not, but anytime I have to drive over 15 minutes, I don't want to be in the car, it's loud, can't pass quickly, and for a car as small as it is, it feels like it has the body roll of a minivan. The nice thing about it though is that if you're using premium in it, it accels to 60ish pretty good for a 1.3 L engine. The CVT makes the engine just sit at 5.5K RMPs and it's 0-60 is about 9 seconds or so. (a touch less than 2x my car though 8')
As for me, I'll quit driving my 300hp car when my wife leaves me, the kids die of starvation, and the oil cartel prys it from my cold dead hands.
J/K, I'll bury it before the cartel gets it.
In all serioiusnes though, probably about $8/gallon. Hey, I got a 6mi. comute thats done on a bicycle when the wether is at least 1/2 way decent. Gas Prices just don't affect me yet.
I took part in a demo of a surgery robot (actually a remote control, not a robot). It was really intuitive! In seconds, I learned how to manipulate all the controls, everything felt very comfortable, I was able to move small rings, and place them over spikes, move and rotate in different directions and angles. It was sweet!
As for anatomy, anatomy is different from person to person! some people have their heart on the wrong side! some peoples liver is much larger than others (hopefully mine is I drink like it anyway...) This may work for simple things like stitches though!
A robot could / should not be doing surgery w/o some way to image and KNOW what the anatomy is that they are working on. I don't see robots replacing humans in this aspect for many many years(10 years after decent true AI). There is too much liability, the one time there is something different, OOPS... lawsuit)
How much wood could a wood chuck chuck if Chuck the woodchuck could chuck wood? and if they don't type out exactly: Chuck would chuck as much wood as Chuck could if Chuck could chuck wood! Then the FBI automatically raids their house.
OOO First, the solar comes in, and needs to be converted from 24VDC 10 amps to 120 Then it needs to be synced using a miniscule amount of AC to "seed" the signal. It's not that easy, mostly because "syncing" has to be done w/in x% tolerance if IIRC, and it has to handle large loads, be surge protected, and damn near lossless. (5% loss on a 600W setup (which is only 600W @ noon if your in arizona...) is 30 watts, and your more likely to be higher than that)
As for the OP,
You won't normally backfeed to the grid w/ that small amount of power (the power you generate will get used by your house, so you'll just use a little less from the grid) Except if you live in an area w/ full sun, sometimes in the summer you might spin backwards during the day if your not home, and the fridge cycles off.
Most places give you two credits, one for generation (backfeed to the grid), and one for production (everything the panels make) So if you do a gridtie w/ a capacity capable of more than 1200 you can see paybacks pretty quick, and add more panels as you need.
Depending on where you live, you may reduce your bill very little (like a nickel)in the winter, and a "noticable" amount in the summer, or it could be a lot more, w/ just 600W worth of panels. Panels will be cheaper, inverters will not for a bit.
You can often find inverters on Ebay when people upgrade too, that's where I would go as a hobby activity.
Nice! way to play to the mod system, that was awesome! I would now have to rate you +funny though, and well, that would mean I'd violate your eula... better prep your attourneys. Just in case they are ready,

Allways zipcrypt with a plausible deniability folder. For instance, I work in a field where occasionally I have to have demographics on my comp. so, I encrypt a file, called *demographics.zip in it I put... wait for it.
Demographics!
Then one tiny file is actually a textfile attached to an encrypted zip file with a txt extension. If you open the text file, it looks like text, for the first 30 or so pages, and then it looks as if it's corrupted. Yank your text, rename file, open, enter password, ahh 20G of pron is safe from wife.
Unless she sneaks up behind you, in which case your sol. Luckily for me, she just asks why I keep opening Mr. Andersons file.
Great thougth! In my case, the comp is setting next to the only escape route (the window) and if the guy actually got away (having to jump over the 21" monitor and out the window) he would be seriously injured!
Whats the ignition point of thermite? Maybe I can sandwich it betwen the proc and heatsink, and just turn off the fan in software to ignite it!
I tell this to my wife all the time because we tend to overbook ourselves. It's funny to me that people forget this. If we chose not to decide, we still have made a choice!
If you don't decide, you chose the course of action of not making said decision. For instance, deciding to buy a bigger house. We can either buy the house, or not buy the house, but if we don't decide, someone else buys the house, and we have effectively made the decision to not buy.
I actually had to google it (shame on me, A Rush fan too!)
If music like the old political rock* made a comeback at the right time, it may just re-influence society to vote, join a club, fight for a cause, or worse, understand, realize, live up to their potential.
Of course I would be quite scary if I lived up to my potential. I am a great shot w/ a sniper rifle in CS/ UT3, and a 40/40 in RL!
*That also sounds good, sorry but I have to exclude System of a Down. While personally I like there stuff, and feel that their music sounds good, sometimes I hate listening to someone scream into a mike and know few people who do.
"I dare you to claim that they did deserve to die, for burglary. Seriously. The court system doesn't impose lethal injections on burglars, so why should YOU have the right to use lethal force on one? Next question"
O.K. lets assume that you are in a similar situation, two guys enter the home, you and wife are sleeping, you wake up, have a gun, lets assume a shotgun. You are aware that firing your gun in the house could cause a lot of damage. You tiptoe to the bedroom door, trying to get the drop on them.
Now rational thought, any that you may have ever had, is gone, because your mind percieves you to be threatened. Let's assume also that you yell giving them a chance "stop or i'll shoot." They bolt, and with their first motion, a twist of their torso, you keep your promise.
From your perspective:
First, once they move, you might as well assume they are reaching for a gun.
Second, you don't know their motive. It could have been someone out to kill you for firing them, it could have been someone pissed off that day. They could be high on PCP/Meth/etc... (but not weed, as they would be far too paranoid to rob someone... 8')
Lastly, thats your wife is in there, and she will expect you to do whatever you can to protect her, and will love you no matter what happens, but returning the favor, you want to find out who just entered your house and broke that secure feeling she had. If you don't, you the burglers may be alive, but your relationship with your wife will be strained.
From the burgler:
Your breaking the law, entering someones presumably locked home for whatever motive you have.
Second, it's a known that you might die if you enter an environment where you don't know the risks. This is ingrained in us, and that's why most people when they explore, go out a little, then a little more, than a little more, etc. Columbus, Lewis and Clark, etc... were freaks who bravely traveled to new destinations w/o a care, risking their lives in the process against the unknown.
Third, x in y houses have a gun, you know the risk entering that there is at least a possibliity of retaliation with a firearm.
Your right, in a moral, ethical sort of way, the guy didn't "deserve" to die. You have to ask yourself that before you buy a gun (or more importantly, the ammo you load it with)to defend your home. "Can I live with killing an intruder?"
I couldn't. But I don't think that I can impose that philosphy on someone else, nor would I. That's why I use knives. If they get close enough that I can use one, Your damn well sure I'll do my best to defend me and my wife. Hoping that they stay alive in the end, but will think twice about their career path.
The intruders willingly took those risks on themselves. What he did deserve was the roll of the dice. The GM doesn't make the decision, you and the die do. This guy rolled for initiative and lost, bummer. The guy in the house, was doing what anyone might do in that situation.
I honestly see validity to this. I agree that when in a position of authority, even a little bit, it is important to let management make an informed decision. As an app admin, it's my job to tell my boss how a decision he confides in me will affect him, his staff, and the company overall. I may not agree w/ what he decides to do, but It's his choice to make, not one I can do anything about, except inform him.
We don't have enough information to crucify one or the other here. Did he even know that they were rolling out a new version ahead of time? Did he let the Top Dog (R) know that a Friday night release is not usually a good idea? Did his superior override him?
Interestingly, I think it's interesting that a go-live plan would move forward w/o consensus of everyone involved. Why is Dev allowed to release w/o support training? There should be some checks and balances. It happens everywhere, but I just find it odd that it still does with such frequency.
These systems are pretty easy to design your self, there are tons of roll your own POS software templates, and several companies that make them. A common tool is VB, as you can make a really quick front end and database, customize it to your particular needs, export the data in the way you want, create a system to log individual transactions, daily sales, discounts given, etc... If you can do the math, and are willing to work w/ a local community college, you can build one of these, or have a student build one of these for $1000. The hardest part being wiriing the cash draw selenoid.
If "Open Office" is the format he needs, how about exporting his data to a tab delimited text file? If he wants, he can then import that into a greater database. The sky is the limit when designing a system for POS. There is so much you can do, it just depends on how much functionality you want!
I hear you... and agree completly. You'll get out of that one ticket, but countless other fools will pay it and move along. It's an easy trap to set, and one that all too often nets more than the fair share of fish.
Don't tell anyone, but that is why I have my rear plate angled down. Good luck trying to take a picture of that! I am working on a cable set up that will allow me to pull it back up when I get pulled over.
The comment before my post on this thread should intrest you...
