    Bruce Schneier sure is oblivious sometimes.

    They're accepted because they're good enough.

    What does that mean? It means that if there is a problem later, the fax is sufficient evidence to resolve most problems, either by providing proof of a signature or proof of a forgery. As long as most businesses have some documentation to cover themselves that's generally good enough. Certainly some issues may not fall into this category, but enough do to make faxes acceptable.

    Security, for many businesses, isn't about "making sure something bad doesn't ever happen" it's about having what you need to resolve a problem should it arise in the future.

    Nothing you posted there addresses the fact that at some point, with metered downloads, you will be downloading ads that count against your cap WHETHER YOU WANT TO OR NOT. Your TV comparison fails at all levels.

    Put another way, those ads are paying for the websites you're looking at just as TV ads pay for the TV shows. Why should your provider aborb those costs?


    Because the two have fuck-all to do with each other? And the entire point has fuck-all to do with metered downloads? You would have a point if I were charge more when I watched more TV, but since I'm not, and no one else is either, you don't.

    Most of the civilized parts of Europe had outlawed slavery by 1200 AD, with Britain being one of the last at outlawing it in 1770. The only western nations of any significance with active slavery after that were America and France.


    I totally agree, Britain is responsible for slavery in America and as such, shoudl have their products boycotted. Had they not colonized the area and developed an economy reliant on slavery things would have been much better off.
