Simple - remove `redundant` as an option. I never use it. Same for `overrated`. What does that mean? Is it supposed to refer to the comment, or is it a lame form of meta-moderation?
Talking of fish, i always find it funny that people always say `we evolved from apes`. Well, no we didnt - we evolved from single celled organisms, into fish, up through apes to what we now call Humans.
Saying humans came from apes is like saying toast is made out of bread.
"The disk format used on the 1541 and its predecessors (1540, 4040, etc.) was a technological marvel of it's day. Only thirty-five tracks, single sided, variable number of sectors per track, and the directory in the middle on track 18. Each sector was written in GCR format, allowing far higher data density than acheived on the IBM 9-sector format. "
And it only took about 25 mins to load a game - slower than many cassette based systems!
I never could get over just how bad they were. The BBC micro could load 32k off of a floppy in about 7 seconds, IIRC.
"Well considering Sega already worked with MS to provide a copy of WinCE for the dreamcast, this hardly seems a solid viewpoint."
As long as they keep it away from the PS2 i dont care what they`ve done in the past! I thought Sony were working on their own OS anyway?
I dont think the DC`s hardware is all that - its good, but its old now. All the games i`ve seen have that pc-style frame dropping effect.
The professional thing to do is fix the game in one frame rate, like on arcade/ps1/n64 games.
I doubt too many execs at movie companies lost too much sleep over people swapping copies of movies-taped-to-video!
Same goes for taping music from a speaker! If they could limit piracy to just that, they`d be laughing!
Anything that gets Sega doing its great software, instead of its ridiculous hardware is a good idea.
Hopefully they won`t be working with MS, so it`ll be MS vs sony/sega/namco/etc.
"Fact: Most TI stuff is built to almost military specs: the home computer's cards were cased in cast aluminum."
Didnt the military (in the states) put a block on ordering any more of their chips after one screwed up and took out a pretty expensive plane/satellite or something?
"If every time your user has a problem, you fix it without explaining what caused it, you're going to potentially decrease the learning rate of your user base. In other words, users will commonly repeat the same mistakes, and you will commonly repeat the same fix. "
Sometimes a customer pays you for a service, and just wants it working. Dont want to learn, dont want anything other than a working system. By having the ability to pcAnywhere/Excellanet into a box and up/download databases, log files etc, you can do it all remotely - no need to get the next plane/train 600 miles. No downsides. None whatsoever.

I`m not at 50, i can meta mod. think you just have to go to a certain page - try http://slashdot.org/metamod.pl

I`m sure i`ve read somewhere that dinosaurs started to die out before such an impact.
"they should email these people befor they post and ask if it's ok to mirror their site first"
Hey, they shouldnt be on the net if they cant take a joke! Making a site popular is bad now?

What, like if America had been spying on him?

Yeah, its pretty annoying when you just want to read the damn thing and instead you`re expected to download shit.
Sounds like you want a copy of MAME!
>Now if I can only find a 2600 and a copy of Air >Sea Battle... that was a great two player game...
oh, and a copy of Stella too!
>"Lemmings" was never a tech leader
Thats the exception that proves the rule!
yeah, but to be fair, i`m from a country (England) that was putting unmarried mothers of children into mental asylums until around the same time.
Well, i guess its not like they are going to put off people from going there to work/invest is it? Island in the middle of nowhere and all that.
"To other people, they might stick it in their cd player and call it noise techno "
You could use this `argument` to justify anything!!
`Its not murder! Its performance art!`
yeah, absolutely everything else was fine. When i came back i expected to see no posts all day, but instead it was business as usual!

"I for one am sick and tired of big companies trying to tell me what I can do with X, Y, or Z product after I've already purchased it. "
If you purchased it, do what you want. If you only licensed it however....
