Not really, I'm at the stage for leisure I like to plug it in and "It just works". Last thing I want to do is type into google "How do I make my monitor work pretty please", then read through 12 pages of other people saying "me too, omgwtfbbqlol", to find on page 13 ohh this isn't able to be used with video card y due to z problem, feel free to write your own code... etc etc. Bugger that, plug monitor in, open system preferences -> displays -> select res I want and settle back to do something "useful" with my time.
Why should you have to google for something though ?

http://www.dvdsoon.com/ for all your ghost in the shell 2 needs, my copy arrived monday and I'm living in Brisbane. Heck I get a few dvd releases before the movie even gets to the cinemas in AU !!
I have the 4.6-mini iso, the binaries are out and full iso's will be available soon, so in other words they're doing the smart thing and saying that we'll say its released when all the mirrors have the files needed, rather than say its released and not have it available for a couple of days.
Ohh and one thing I didn't think of if you ever wanted great 2d quality this is the card for it, I'd much prefer to sit in front of my 19" sony with an ati 7200 or 7500 card as the image quality is crisp as opposed to the gefoce 3 I have which makes the text blurry to read no matter what frequency the monitor is on:/
For all the people out there that are bitching about drivers being cr@p for ati cards I'm betting they haven't seen the recent drivers which get both of my ati cards (7200 & 7500) performing better than their nvidia counterparts. I also have the advantage that when I run a unix derivative on my machine I don't need to muck around with kernel modules to get the damn graphics working, open source drivers are a wonderful thing and with 3d support coming for the 8500 in the next version of XFree what more can I ask for, my only wish is my laptop had an ATI based card rather than the paltry Cyberblade XP which has less X support than the nvidia cards !
I have been on many machines where the only editor installed "out of the box" has been vi, this includes solaris & freebsd in their current incarnations.
Unless they are planning a linux only type release then openoffice is nowhere near version 1, I'm all for software for linux but really it isn't hard to make the code portable enough that it will compile on FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, Solaris, OsX etc. Right now it compiles nicely in NetBSD ports n thats it, the others are all broken. If I was enough of a C hacker I would try and do my bit but my gripe is the portability issue should have been thought of from the start, if it had been then we could be close to a true open source office solution that everyone (nearly) can use.
If I had had one of these handy only last month I could have used it to backup my laptop whilst on the road for work, instead I didn't n had my laptop stolen and 1 month's worth of work disappeared as I hadn't been into the office to back it up. I'll be getting one of these just for that purpose alone.

Try running the rootkit on a *bsd, solaris etc. Then you'll see why it is a linux problem.
Please try to realise that these links are helpful for those of us wanting the source for bind and live in AU. Jason provides a fantastic service with aarnet and planet mirror giving Australians a fast local mirror of pretty much everything linux / unix related.
Lets see I recentley load tested a couple of my front ends because I was worried what load they would be able to handle... FBSD 4.1 on dual PII 733's and 256mb RAM and with 10 machines hammering them for a 24 hour period I came up with an end result of 197 hits per second for one server... Multiply it out for one day (yes I did actually hammer them for a day) and you get 17020800. I beleive this is a bit better than the article states... Divide this by 10 to include images et all n you still have 1702080. You can determine the rest yourself.
Well der, it'd be "I done that real quick".

typical sony, overcharge you for the name, nothing overly special in this package and yet it costs more than the equivalent competitors offerings.
I hear they're upgrading to a linux solution since they were bought out, nfi if it's true or not.

Or you could just use a browser other than ie, really it aint hard.

Ohh and of course I forget to change my options.
It would be more likely they would do a ...
config MACOSX
cd ../../compile/MACOSX
make
make depend
make install
since it is based on the freebsd kernel.
And you could think of Inferno as a follow up to pyro, or maybe combine the two, have someone starting the fires and someone trying to put them out...
I don't know, ever tried to maybe... do strings on ftp under windows ? -smile-

Funny thing is I picked this book up and started to read it again for the 12th time. Can't beat LOTR for a good read
