Those glasses don't fit well are made poorly and quite frankly would be a shitty cereal prize let so there is no way they are worth $3.00. I suspect they get them for peanuts if not free. I would think the added cost is due to the higher cost of the film (more expensive equipment to make the film) and the equipment that is purchased to display the film.
I suspect if 3D becomes the norm the prices will start to balance out once the equipment is paid off and theaters have to rely on pricing to compete. As it is now if your area has a no-compete setup amongst theaters only one theater has Avatar, for example, it's likely the only 3D film so there is no reason not to cut prices. If all films are 3D you can't rely on the novelty anymore.
Look at a English council estate, they're chock full of stupid people with tons of kids and people sleeping around with each other's partner. There is just too much proof it's not true at least in humans.
Of course if it didn't actually happen or didn't happen on the job then that is a different story. However if it happened at work then of course Dell has to take some responsibility. The logic that they can't be held responsible for things that happen on their facilities is retarded. By that logic no business can ever do wrong because it's an employee, not the business, that actually does something wrong.
I'm not trying to say Ubuntu is super awesome or anything but I think people underestimate what they have done for Linux purely because they haven't contributed the most code.
As far as I am aware Canonical pays to host their forums and wiki which are one of the most helpful resources for Linux especially if you use a similar distro.
If they get people using Linux then it will be much easier to get people using other distros and every person they bring to Linux, even if they stick with Ubuntu, is potentially one more developer who will contribute code that everyone can use.
Ubuntu probably should contribute more code. If they want to be the consumer distro then imo they should put more effort in making Linux even better on laptops which is where it is probably it is at its weakest. Instead they did let that awful hard drive killing issue linger forever (still not sure if it's fixed) and that would have, in my eyes at least, made them look better and any distro with similar issues could have taken advantage of their code. But still I appreciate what they have done and I believe that is introducing more people to Linux.
That's complete BS. Like the link pointed out, they may be trying to submit stuff and it's not accepted. But even if that isn't the case the one thing that Ubuntu does much much better than anyone else is provide a huge collection of useful easy to read documentation that can be applied to most any Linux distro.
They may not be doing much coding work but they are making people more aware of Linux and rather than fighting each other and making the community look like a bunch of dicks we should appreciate what they have done because quite frankly they didn't have to do anything and the competition is good. Fedora wasn't that great for working straight out of the box, from my experience a few years ago but Ubuntu was. That means users had a good option to try (better for everyone) and Redhat needed to improve which, I think they have.
If writing good code was all it took to be a popular OS then Linux should be a lot more popular than it is now. It's not and that's because it needs people doing other things some of which Canonical are doing.
Seriously, with the elderly population growing we're going to have less young workers than retired people. They'll be a huge drain on those who work and the elderly fear everything and can't use logic. Just let them die and balance the out the population.
Not everyone can move nor could any community handle people crowding into it because it's good.
It benefits society as a whole to ensure people are looked after people(to a reasonable extend) because if you were to take away employment law and if you were to just let neighbourshoods act completely on their own you'll end up with a load of shitty jobs and a handful of good jobs that are impossible to get. Same with the neighbourhoods. You'll either have exceptionally expensive decent areas or crowded areas and ghettos. That doesn't benefit anyone.
Even animals will look after each other because it benefits the whole community. The idea that humans shouldn't look after their community is shelfish is idiotic. If you don't want to help others go live on an island. Surely that will be supre awesome.
Neither extreme communism or a fully free market has worked. Hell the US mobile phone market proves that a free market does no result in better consumer choice. The US gets butt raped big time on mobile phones. That is reality.
You can say that about any job so why have any sort of employment law? Why have police? If your neighbourhood sucks then move somewhere better.
Nothing is black & white and you can't just let it sort itself out (when it clearly isn't) but likewise you can't go to the other extreme and have the government control it completely.
You mean CliffyB is to blame. Romero crashed and burned and is now realistic where as CliffyB copied Romero and has been lucky enough to keep going giving people hope they can be the next famous jerk.
Except the fact the game industry has always been pretty hard on people's social life so I don't think supply has anything to do with it.
What I think the issue is that game developers used to do development more for love (does anyone think the long hours put into Doom were in any way forced?), it used to be more causal and therefore more fun to stick around after hours but gaming is more business like and the slave-like hours are still expected because that's the way it used to be and it helps profit margins.
Combine that with the fact most games are pretty similar, unimaginative and boring. Not being the first one out the door can make the difference from being number one and being a loser. That might lead to you losing your job and maybe even finding it hard to get another job.
Gaming isn't *that* mature so most of your audience will probably be ungrateful teenage boys and frat boys. It's probably one of the most thankless jobs for anyone other than big players like Miyamoto.
With all that and a lack of sleep it's no wonder people are stressed and generally in a shitty mood.
Gaming either needs to get back to its roots and become more independent or someone is going to have to step in and start protecting worker's rights.
Gaming has quickly become the equivalent to modern day pop music / Hollywood. It's lifeless and lacks innovation and I don't believe that will ever change as long as we continue down the route of big businesses who don't value their employees at all.
Clearly no one has watched Quantum Leap. You can only time travel within your own life. Time travel is so far off that we won't see anyone traveling back in time yet.
You can keep your MS tainted language. Some of us rather program for multiple OSes and guarantee we always will be able to. C# (and Java) both suffer from making things overly long, as a quick example, why use WriteLine() as a method. To any new person reading that they won't know it means write with a new line. They will think it means write a line. Since it doesn't make sense to a newbie upon reading it and experienced people will just know what it does no matter how it spelled so might as well pick something quicker to write than make some overly verbose method name
It's not hard to learn Java but yes, it is often a complicated mess of shit when you want to use it on the web. Anything where you *have* to generate great swathes of code to keep your sanity is probably an over engineered shit solution.

I'd rather not have the media up my ass at every hour of the day so yes I'd trade some of the cash for some more brain power.
Having money doesn't make you smart either. You can earn a billion form playing games no one is going to consider you a genius.

There is a lot of poor porn out there from people that can't hold a camera still. Microsoft should redeem itself and sort that out asap.
No point in putting off changing those applications because you can't run IE6 forever.
Upgrading to IE7 or any IE is free. Just run Windows update.
He may be at fault and needs to be punished but he did do it doing his job so the company is responsible too.
MS didn't create Kinect, they bought it and it's going to fail because it's priced too high.
Chrome is safe. It has a plugin that lets you control it like Vim. No need for a mouse so start learning to surf the net like a man.
Yes and no.

What a surprise the AC spouts crap.

It's not what's easier it's the simpletons that just click on things and end up with an Ubuntu computer and freak out because it's not windows.

To be fair it wasn't even a decent tit, it was Janet Jackson's old ass tit.
Works well in countries people care about.
