So you get a temporary boost which will spike the economy and no matter what when that's over your economy will crash because you simply can't use the land you were using before. In fact if we go into an ice age you may get to use even less. Yeah that sounds sensible.

Businesses I think will start doing things like using credits because they can hide the cost difference between nations or hide price increases. Something can cost 10 credits forever but what it costs to get those 10 credits will change and what we pay in the UK may be different to what Americans pay.

That is why I don't like credits, MS points, etc. I wish people would avoid them.

Foxconn is one company that builds hardware that is tied to the success or failure of Apple in that market. Windows is one company forcing something on many companies some of which may fail despite Microsoft's success because they aren't a supplier to Microsoft, they're a customer. It's a huge difference.

So companies like Asus only make tablets? Most companies make a range of hardware which means if they want to have Windows on the desktop (where the monopoly is at) they have to play ball the MS way.

Apple's computers are wide open for any OS to be installed. The tablets/phones are locked down but it is their own hardware. They aren't bullying other companies into selling their hardware the Apple way. That's the difference.

No one is complaining that, for example, the xbox is locked down like an iphone. It's the fact Microsoft is now trying to push this onto other companies.

Nintendo makes a profit on their hardware and they're number 1 so unlike MS they don't need to keep inventing new metrics to try and prove they're relevant.

Don't forget according to MS Nintendo wasn't even in the same market as them so their numbers didn't matter. Of course MS then decide to flat out rip off nintendo and go down the casual motion control route. The mere fact everyone wants to copy Nintendo is the definitive sign of success.

iphone gaming will go away before handheld gaming does. The only people who really care about mobile gaming are investors who want to drive up stock prices, sell and then let it all go to shit while they look for something else to abuse.

The Nintendo DS was the biggest selling system ever. Expecting the 3DS, at a higher price to just come in and sell as many units in a poor economy is just retarded but then again most people who think mobile gaming if the future of portable gaming are retarded.

It's microsoft that has the most to lose seeing how they're a non-event in most of the globe. It will only take the US deciding to go for something else that will knock the wind completely out of their sails. Unlike Nintendo they don't have a strong first party library to draw people in with, they can't innovate unlike Nintendo or even Sony and globally their performance is nothing like their US performance. Where is the incentive to buy a MS system when you'll just be playing the same 3rd party games that are on other systems?

This is it imo. Any large company I've been in does have more women but not more female developers. Where it differs though is overseas in countries like China, the Philippines, etc. The people more likely to to run into poverty do seem to have everyone valuing intelligence and hard work to make money. The west is not like that. I don't think a women's group for developers is just going to change that. I'm sure a lot of it is cultural and therefore could change but I don't think that is entirely the case and for the stuff that can change there's no motivation to do so even if you remove men from the equation. It's not like women will flock t open source if all men leave.
